How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Senior Electrical Engineer - Water Infrastructure
    Location: Peterborough / East Anglia
    Salary: Competitive + Company Car
    Contract: Permanent
Working Pattern: Hybrid working with site visits as required
Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer within the water sector looking to take on greater technical responsibility while continuing to develop your career?
I am currently recruiting on behalf of a major infrastructure organisation delivering a significant programme of water and wastewater projects across the East of England.
This organisation is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer who can provide technical direction across electrical design, support projects throughout design and construction, and help develop engineers within the wider team.
The role would suit someone who enjoys remaining technically involved while taking greater responsibility for design quality, engineering standards and supporting less experienced members of the electrical team.
    The Role
As Senior Electrical Engineer, you will take a lead role across the electrical engineering elements of a range of capital infrastructure projects.
You will work alongside multidisciplinary engineering, project management, construction and supply chain teams, helping ensure electrical designs are technically robust, practical to construct and delivered in line with programme, quality and safety requirements.
    Your responsibilities will include:
·Reviewing and checking electrical design deliverables produced by internal engineering teams and the wider supply chain.
·Reviewing electrical specifications, schedules, datasheets, drawings and 3D models.
·Ensuring electrical designs comply with relevant legislation, standards, codes of practice and project requirements.
·Working closely with Principal Engineers, Design Managers and Project Design Managers to understand upcoming project milestones and design review requirements.
·Providing technical guidance and support to Electrical Engineers and other members of the multidisciplinary design team.
·Reviewing construction site design queries and change requests, ensuring technically accurate responses are provided.
·Supporting CDM and commissioning strategy meetings throughout project delivery.
·Working with design and engineering teams to identify opportunities for technical improvements.
·Managing design quality through the engineering review and assurance process.
·Supporting other discipline leads and engineers to deliver their engineering outputs to programme and quality requirements.
·Liaising with project teams, construction teams and other engineering disciplines regarding electrical design requirements.
·Coaching and mentoring junior and less experienced Electrical Engineers.
·Promoting sustainable and low-carbon electrical design solutions.
·Supporting the use of off-site manufacture, modular construction and repeatable design solutions.
·Helping drive continuous improvement across electrical engineering standards and processes.
    What They're Looking For
This organisation is particularly interested in speaking with Electrical Engineers who already have experience delivering projects within the water or wastewater industry and are ready to take the next step in their career.
    Ideally, you will have:
·A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent knowledge gained through relevant industry experience.
·Previous experience delivering electrical engineering and design within the water sector.
·Experience working on water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping stations or associated water infrastructure.
·Experience working on water-sector capital delivery projects.
·A strong understanding of relevant electrical regulations, engineering standards and codes of practice.
·Experience reviewing electrical specifications, drawings, schedules and technical documentation.
·The confidence to review and challenge engineering designs where required.
·Experience supporting, coaching or mentoring less experienced engineers.
·Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
·The ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
·Chartered Engineer status, or be working towards professional chartership.
Experience working within a multidisciplinary Design & Build environment would also be beneficial.
    Projects
You could become involved across a varied programme of water and wastewater infrastructure, including:
    ·Water treatment facilities
·Water recycling and wastewater treatment centres
    ·Pumping stations
    ·Clean water infrastructure
    ·Wastewater infrastructure
    ·Electrical distribution and control systems
    ·Major treatment works upgrades
    ·New-build and refurbishment schemes
    ·Capital maintenance programmes
    ·Sustainable and low-carbon infrastructure projects
There is a significant pipeline of work throughout the current investment period, offering the opportunity to become involved in projects from early-stage design through to detailed design, construction and commissioning.
    What's On Offer
Alongside a competitive salary, the position offers:
    ·Company car
·Permanent employment on a significant long-term water infrastructure programme
    ·Hybrid and flexible working
·Up to 40% remote working where project requirements allow
    ·25 days' annual leave
    ·Pension scheme
    ·Family-friendly policies
    ·Professional development and chartership support
·Opportunities to progress into Principal Engineer and wider engineering leadership positions
If you're an experienced Electrical Engineer, Senior Electrical Engineer or Water Electrical Engineer looking for your next opportunity within the water sector, I'd be interested in speaking with you
