How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Position: Lead Gas Engineer

    Location: Covering PO postcodes from an office in Emsworth, Hampshire

    Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 (DOE)

    We currently have an opportunity available with an expanding plumbing and heating contractor based in Hampshire who have just set new records for works completed and are looking to double their workforce along with expanding into the renewable heating sector.

    Lead Gas Engineer Job Overview

    Working alongside the Operations Manager as the Lead Engineer within the team
    Completing complex fault-finding and breakdown repairs on domestic boilers and heating systems across the PO postcode area
    Providing technical support to engineers within the team along with overseeing their works, completing training and carrying out quality audits on completed jobs
    Liaising directly with customers, providing technical support and being a point of contact for any issues and escalations
    Working on a 1 in every 4 week call out rota (additional payments included)
    Eventually progressing into a Technical Manager position within the company as they grow

    Lead Gas Engineer Job Requirements

    Strong background of completing servicing, fault-finding and repairs on domestic heating systems including boilers, radiators, cylinders and associated systems
    Experienced in supervising engineers, both junior/apprentice-level and qualified engineers
    Domestic Gas tickets essential, including CCN1, CKR1, CPA1, HTR1 and CENWAT
    Any additional ticket/qualifications including Oil, LPG, F-Gas or heat pumps would be highly desirable
    Based within a commutable distance of the PO postcode area (Portsmouth across to Bognor Regis), and happy to travel to sites across the area
    Holding a full UK driving licence

    Lead Gas Engineer Salary & Benefits

    Basic salary £40,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)
    Company bonus provided (full details to be discussed at interview)
    Company vehicle provided
    Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
    33 days holiday, including bank holidays
