About the Role

BPI Painting & Decorating are looking for a motivated Trainee Painter & Decorator to join our team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to learn a skilled trade and build a long-term career in painting and decorating.

Previous professional decorating experience is not essential. We're more interested in finding someone with the right attitude: reliable, hardworking, willing to learn and proud of doing a job properly.

You'll work alongside experienced decorators, learning the skills required to prepare and decorate residential and commercial properties to a professional standard.

What You'll Be Doing

As you learn and develop, your responsibilities will include:

Preparing rooms and work areas ready for decorating

*

Protecting floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings

*

Learning how to correctly prepare different surfaces

*

Filling, sanding, caulking and making good

*

Learning professional brush and roller techniques

*

Assisting with painting walls, ceilings, woodwork and other surfaces

*

Mixing and preparing paints and materials

*

Keeping tools, equipment and work areas clean and organised

*

Assisting experienced decorators on site

*

Learning how to achieve a professional, high-quality finish

*

Following health & safety procedures

*

Developing your skills and taking on greater responsibility as your experience grows

What We're Looking For

You don't need to be an experienced decorator, but you do need to have the right approach.

We're looking for someone who is:

Genuinely interested in learning painting and decorating as a trade

Hardworking and willing to learn

*

Reliable and punctual

*

Polite and professional when working in customers' homes and businesses

*

Able to follow instructions and take feedback

*

Practical and comfortable with hands-on work

*

Able to work well as part of a team

*

Careful and attentive to detail

*

Willing to travel to jobs across Oxfordshire and surrounding areas

*

Keen to develop their skills and build a career with the business

A full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
