How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Help us to make a world of difference

Urenco is a global leader in the production of low carbon energy. We work at the cutting edge of the transition to a sustainable, net zero world.

We are seeking an Export Control Officer to join our team at our Capenhurst site. In this role, you will provide expert export control support to the Urenco Technology & Development (UTD) and Investment Programme functions. As part of the UTD Export Control team, you will play a key role in guiding and supporting new projects, ensuring compliance with applicable export control legislation, regulatory requirements, and internal governance processes.

At Urenco we’re committed to giving you opportunities to be your best. If you feel you meet some, but not all of what we're looking for, please still apply. We believe in embracing the passion and potential of our people, and to achieve this we offer market leading training and development experiences. Along with the opportunity to be mentored and coached by some of the smartest minds in the industry.

    What you’ll do:

    Project Export Control Support

Provide export control advice and support to project teams, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
Develop supplier and system maps to support project activities.
Respond promptly to export control queries from stakeholders.
    Export Licence Management

Prepare and submit export licence applications through SPIRE.
Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), licences and End User Undertakings (EUUs).
Maintain accurate export control records and documentation.
    Training & Awareness

Deliver export control training and support wider compliance initiatives.
Educate project personnel on relevant UK, EU and US export control requirements and internal processes.
Contribute to the development and improvement of training materials.
    Governance & Continuous Improvement

Draft, review and update export control procedures, work instructions and governance documentation.
Identify gaps in existing controls and recommend improvements.
Support the ongoing enhancement of export control processes and compliance frameworks.
    Stakeholder Collaboration

Build strong relationships with export control colleagues across the UK, Netherlands, Germany and the US.
Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to achieve compliance objectives.
Support the consistent application of export control requirements across international projects and supply chains.
What do you need to thrive in this role?

Education & Experience: Degree educated, or able to demonstrate equivalent relevant experience.
Industry Expertise: At least 3 years' experience in an export control, trade compliance, or related regulatory role.
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of UK export control regulations and their application within a commercial environment.
Compliance & Governance: Knowledge of compliance frameworks, governance processes and regulatory controls.
Licence Management: Experience working with export licences and their associated terms, conditions and obligations.
Sector Experience: Experience within nuclear, defence, dual use or other highly regulated sectors would be advantageous.
Training Capability: Previous experience delivering training or awareness sessions is desirable.
Global Perspective: Experience working within a multinational organisation is beneficial.
Organisation & Delivery: Able to work independently and collaboratively, managing competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to investigate, interpret and resolve technical or complex compliance matters.
Communication & Stakeholder Management: Confident engaging with senior leaders, technical and non-technical colleagues, suppliers and regulatory bodies.

What can you expect from us?

More than just a job, we offer a future. More than just a place to work, we provide an opportunity to prosper.  As an employee of Urenco you will receive:

Generous Annual Leave: Starting at 25 days, increasing by one day every two years (up to 30 days), plus 13 additional flexible days. Option to buy or sell up to 5 holiday days.
Family-Friendly Policies: A wide range of policies to support work-life balance and family needs.
Bonus Scheme: A competitive bonus scheme based on company and individual performance.
Pension Scheme: Defined contribution plan with up to 16% employer contribution.
Private Medical & Dental Cover: Single coverage with the option to purchase additional benefits.
Flexible Benefits: Life assurance, income protection, and other options tailored to your lifestyle, with tax and National Insurance savings.
Training & Development: A focus on continuous learning, with personalised training packages to support your career growth, including mandatory health and safety courses.
    Security vetting

Due to the nature of the industry that Urenco operates in, all personnel regardless of employment status working for Urenco are required to obtain security clearance at the level required for their role. Security clearances are assessed in accordance with regulations and official guidance issued by the relevant competent authorities for national security vetting. In certain circumstances, additional enhanced security clearance considerations apply to roles within Urenco owing to the particular activities that the Urenco Group undertakes in relation to uranium enrichment. Successful candidates will need to satisfy security requirements, and all offers of appointment are made subject to the successful approval of all checks initiated.

Creating a diverse and inclusive workforce

As a truly global company with a presence in the UK, USA, Germany, and the Netherlands, we know that our individual differences make us stronger. Putting people at the heart of our business, we strive to create an open and inclusive workplace that allows every voice to be heard and diversity to thrive. If you require any reasonable adjustments to the recruitment process, please let our talent acquisition team know.

Because together, we are one Urenco. We are enriching the world. And enriching your future
