How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Commercial Operations Director

A rare opportunity for a leader from the commercial vehicle fleet industry to join a market-leading business in a role reporting directly to the Managing Director. With responsibility for a national depot and workshop network working with a large vehicle fleet, you will have the autonomy to influence the future structure and direction of a major service organisation. This is a highly visible leadership position combining operational ownership, customer engagement and commercial growth.

    The Role

    * The Commercial Operations Director will provide leadership across a nationwide depot and workshop network supporting commercial vehicle fleet management throughout the UK. National travel will be required and candidates living within 1-2 hours of the Midlands will be best placed for this.

    * Act as a key member of the senior leadership team, working closely with the Managing Director to shape future organisational design, capability and performance.

    * Strengthen relationships with major fleet operators, spending time with customers to understand requirements and identify opportunities for service enhancement and business growth.

    * Increase market penetration by improving service performance, developing customer-focused solutions and identifying opportunities to expand revenue streams.

    * Lead regional management teams to deliver consistent operational standards, productivity and customer experience across the network.

    * Challenge existing ways of working and introduce improvements that support efficiency, scalability and long-term profitability.

    The Commercial Operations Director should

    * Have substantial leadership experience within the commercial vehicle fleet, fleet management, vehicle maintenance or related vehicle fleet aftersales sectors.

    * Demonstrate a successful track record leading multi-site service, maintenance or operational teams through regional management structures.

    * Possess strong commercial awareness and experience developing customer relationships within the fleet industry.

    * Be comfortable operating at board and senior leadership level with responsibility for large operational teams and geographically dispersed locations.

    * Have experience leading organisational change, service improvement programmes and business growth initiatives.

    * Bring the credibility and industry knowledge associated with successful Heads of Service, Directors of Service Operations or Aftersales Directors within the commercial vehicle fleet industry.

    The Business

    * Market-leading provider of services to the commercial vehicle fleet sector.

    * National depot and workshop infrastructure serving customers throughout the UK.

    * Trusted partner to some of the country's largest fleet operators.

    * Offer a significant opportunity to influence future growth and organisational development.

    * Well-established business with continued investment in people, capability and customer service.

    * Excellent six-figure salary package including bonus, pension and additional benefits.
