How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Position: Electrician

    Location: Leighton Buzzard with travel to and from sites as required

    Salary Guide: £Neg DOE and excellent benefits package

    Our Client: Our client is a Tier 1 D&B Contractor operating predominately in the water industry, who are a strategic partner to Thames Water for AMP8 on Major Projects and Capital Frameworks across the Thames Water supply and treatment regions, predominately for non-infrastructure assets.

    The Role: You will be part of their inhouse electrical delivery team. Responsible for

    carrying out the installation, maintenance, inspection, testing, and repair of electrical systems and equipment across water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, reservoirs, and associated infrastructure.

    The role is critical in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient

    operation of water industry assets while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and company standards.

    Responsibilities: Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.

    Install and terminate power, control, and instrumentation cables.

    Install containment systems including tray, ladder rack, conduit, trunking, and ducting.

    Perform electrical testing and inspection in accordance with BS 7671 requirements.

    Diagnose electrical faults and implement effective corrective actions.

    Work on motors, pumps, MCCs, control panels, VSDs, and associated electrical equipment.

    Support commissioning and decommissioning activities.

    Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.

    Complete maintenance records, test certificates, and site documentation accurately.

    Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.

    Participate in site risk assessments, toolbox talks, and permit-to-work systems.

    Liaise with site personnel, supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure efficient project delivery.

    Maintain high standards of housekeeping and site safety

    Support emergency breakdown response when required.

    Comply with all company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) procedures.

    Follow safe systems of work and permit-to-work requirements.

    Use appropriate PPE and safety equipment.

    Report hazards, near misses, incidents, and unsafe conditions.

    Ensure compliance with confined space, working at height, and electrical isolation procedures where applicable.

    Promote a positive safety culture across all sites.

    Experience:

    Essential: Qualified Electrician with NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.

    AM2 certification. ECS Gold Card.

    Inspection and Testing qualification (City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent).

    Experience working on industrial electrical installations.

    Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.

    Knowledge of BS 7671 Wiring Regulations.

    Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

    Full UK Driving Licence.

    Strong commitment to safety and quality.

    Reliable and self-motivated.

    Excellent communication skills.

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Flexible approach to work and travel.

    Professional attitude and attention to detail.

    Working Conditions: Work at water treatment works, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs, and utility sites.

    Travel between to and from sites.

    Staying away maybe required.

    Occasional overtime, standby, or emergency call-out duties may be necessary.

    Work may involve confined spaces, outdoor environments, and industrial settings.
