Key Responsibilities
• Manage the full billing cycle, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing
• Monitor payments and proactively follow up on outstanding balances
• Maintain precise financial transaction records
• Strengthen fee earner–client relationships through transparent financial communication
Financial Reporting
• Provide clear insight into the firm’s financial health
• Produce reports that support strategic decision-making
• Ensure compliance with legal accounting standards
General Accounting Duties
• Supervision and monitoring of the accounts function
• Monitor income, expenditure, and budget adherence
• Post monthly journals (accruals, prepayments, payroll)
• Process VAT returns
• Perform bank reconciliations
• Manage payroll processing and PAYE/NI payments
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
• Manage SAR audits and liaise with banks and HMRC
• Support senior management with financial analysis and respond to partner/staff queries
Compliance & Risk Management
• Assist with compliance across SRA rules, GDPR, AML, COFA and other regulatory frameworks
• Manage professional indemnity insurance and other firm-wide policies
• Act as the primary contact for audits and regulatory reviews
• Support fee earners with client onboarding and KYC processes
About You
• Strong experience in legal finance or professional services
• Deep understanding of compliance frameworks (SRA, AML, GDPR)
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
