How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Lift Engineer

    Lift Repair Engineer, Lift Industry
    Manchester, North West
    Basic Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

    Marmon Lift Recruitment is recruiting for a skilled Lift Repair Engineer (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) to join an established and growing independent lift engineering company. This role focuses on completing lift repairs and responding to breakdowns across Manchester and the wider North West, working on a varied portfolio of lift equipment.
    The company maintains and repairs lifts from a wide range of manufacturers, from straightforward passenger and goods lifts through to more complex commercial systems. Engineers benefit from strong technical support, investment in training, equipment, and tooling, and the opportunity to further develop their technical knowledge.

    Key Responsibilities of a Lift Repair Engineer:

    Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical & hydraulic faults across a variety of lifts.
    Complete minor and major repair work efficiently, ensuring lifts are returned to safe, reliable operation.
    Attend breakdowns and troubleshoot faults, providing an effective solution while minimising customer downtime.
    Complete all required engineering paperwork and site reports accurately and within the required timescales.
    Communicate professionally with customers, colleagues and the office regarding repairs, parts and ongoing technical issues.
    Ensure all work is completed in accordance with current health and safety policies, British Standards and relevant legislation.

    Requirements of a Lift Engineer:

    Industry-relevant qualification - NVQ Level 3 or equivalent - Essential
    Full UK driving licence - Essential
    Previous commercial experience working as a Lift Engineer, ideally within repair, service or breakdown environments - Essential
    Strong fault-finding ability with the confidence to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues across different makes and models of lifts - Essential
    Confidence working independently, prioritising your workload and completing repair work to a high standard - Essential
    Currently living within a commutable distance of Manchester or willing to relocate to satisfy the geography of this specialist role - Essential
