How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Join a Growing Organisation Where Your Career Makes a Difference in the Community.
Join us at an exciting time of growth and play a key role in delivering excellent services to our communities.
    About the role
As an Area Repairs Supervisor, you'll play a key role in delivering a high-quality, efficient and customer-focused repairs service across our occupied and empty homes.
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You'll lead repairs operations on the ground, manage contractors and colleagues, oversee inspections, and ensure work is completed safely, on time and to a high standard.
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, building positive relationships, and taking ownership of challenges. In return, you'll gain exposure to a wide range of maintenance and property services activities, with opportunities to further develop your leadership and technical skills within a supportive team environment.
You'll also participate in our out-of-hours on-call rota, helping to ensure our customers receive a responsive and reliable service when they need it most.
    What you’ll be doing
    * Supervising the delivery of responsive repairs and minor works across your area
    * Carrying out inspections and surveys within occupied and vacant properties
    * Preparing schedules of work and overseeing planned maintenance projects
    * Managing contractor performance to ensure quality, value for money and compliance
    * Investigating disrepair issues and implementing effective solutions
    * Undertaking health and safety inspections and ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice
    * Leading, motivating and supporting operatives to achieve excellent outcomes
    * Collaborating with colleagues across the organisation to continuously improve the customer experience
You’ll bring strong technical knowledge, a recognised trade or professional qualification, and a solid understanding of building works and health & safety legislation. Just as importantly, you’ll be a confident communicator and a practical leader who takes pride in getting things right first time.
    About You
    You'll be someone who:
    * Has a recognised trade qualification or relevant professional experience within repairs, maintenance or property services
    * Demonstrates strong technical knowledge of building maintenance and repair practices
    * Understands health and safety legislation and its practical application
    * Is proactive, organised and confident making decisions in a fast-paced environment
    * Enjoys working collaboratively and building positive relationships with colleagues, customers and contractors
    * Takes pride in delivering excellent customer service and getting things right first time
    * Is committed to continuous professional development and personal growth
Most importantly, you'll be a team player who leads by example, embraces challenges, and is passionate about making a positive difference.
    Why Join Plymouth Community Homes?
We are the city’s largest social housing association, with over 16,000 properties providing homes for more than 35,000 people, and we’re aiming to grow, to provide more people with high-quality, affordable homes to rent and buy.
With a great workforce and a focus on people, we deliver good quality, well-managed and well-maintained homes.
    What we can offer you:
    * Excellent pension scheme with generous employer contributions
    * 25 days annual leave, rising to 30 days, plus Bank Holidays
    * Holiday trading scheme
    * Free onsite gym and changing facilities
    * Three paid volunteering days each year through our Make a Difference programme
    * Free Employee Assistance Programme, including counselling support
    * Free annual flu vaccination
