How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    School Counsellor – SEMH & Trauma
    Location: Southwark, London
    Salary: £28,914–£34,502 FTE (pro rata, dependent on experience)
    Contract: Part Time | Permanent | Term Time Only – 39 Weeks
    Hours: 3 days per week | 8:30am–4:00pm | Tuesday essential

    New Chapter Tuition is recruiting exclusively on behalf of a specialist independent school in Southwark for an experienced and compassionate School Counsellor.
    You’ll provide therapeutic and emotional support to young people with complex SEMH and SEN needs, including autism, ADHD, anxiety, attachment difficulties and trauma.
    The Role:
    *
    Deliver 1:1 trauma-informed counselling and therapeutic interventions
    *
    Facilitate group sessions around emotional regulation, anxiety and social skills
    *
    Assess students’ emotional, psychological and social needs
    *
    Provide crisis support, de-escalation and safety planning
    *
    Work collaboratively with SENCOs, teaching staff, CAMHS and other professionals
    *
    Maintain confidential records in line with safeguarding requirements
    About You:
    *
    Degree in Counselling, Psychology or a related field
    *
    Accredited membership of a professional body such as BACP, NCS or UKCP
    *
    Minimum 2 years’ counselling experience with children or young people
    *
    Experience delivering trauma-informed therapeutic interventions
    *
    Confident supporting ASD, ADHD, SEMH, anxiety and complex needs
    *
    Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
