How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Location: Chesterfield
    Contract: Full-time, Supply
    Start Date: September 2026
    Duration: Ongoing / Academic Year
Salary: £100–£120 per day, dependent on experience

PK Education are working with a mainstream secondary school in Chesterfield who are looking for a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their support team from September.

This is a consistent 1:1 role supporting a student throughout the school day, helping them access lessons, stay focused on their work and manage the demands of a busy secondary school environment. You'll work closely with the student's teachers and the school's SEN team, following established strategies rather than being expected to work everything out yourself.

The role will involve moving between classrooms throughout the day and supporting the student across different subjects. The successful candidate will need to be confident enough to step back when appropriate and encourage independence, while knowing when more direct support is needed.

    The Role

Providing dedicated 1:1 support across the school day
Helping the student access and engage with lessons
Reinforcing instructions and breaking tasks down where needed
Supporting organisation, transitions between lessons and classroom routines
Working alongside subject teachers and the school's SEN team
Encouraging independence rather than completing work on the student's behalf
Maintaining a calm and consistent approach when the student becomes disengaged or frustrated

    We're Looking For

Previous experience supporting a child or young person with SEN
Experience working on a 1:1 basis is highly desirable
Secondary school experience would be an advantage
    Someone calm, patient and consistent
Good communication skills and the confidence to work alongside different teachers
A proactive approach to supporting learning and independence
This would suit someone who understands that effective 1:1 support isn't about sitting next to a student and doing the work for them. The school are looking for somebody who can build trust, recognise when support is needed, and gradually encourage the student to take greater ownership of their learning.

    Apply now.
