How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    HS2 is one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects, delivering major civil engineering and highways works across the route. We are seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join the delivery team in Chipping Warden, supporting the successful construction of highways, earthworks and associated infrastructure packages.

    Key Responsibilities

    Manage and coordinate engineering activities across designated sections of works.

    Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with design specifications.

    Oversee setting out activities and verify accuracy of surveys and site controls.

    Review and interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation.

    Produce, manage and maintain as-built records and as-built drawings.

    Support quality assurance processes, including ITPs, inspections and testing requirements.

    Liaise with the site management team, subcontractors, designers and survey teams.

    Monitor progress against programme and assist with short-term planning.

    Ensure compliance with HS2, client and company procedures.

    Identify and resolve technical issues to maintain productivity and quality standards.

    Assist with material take-offs, procurement requirements and engineering documentation.

    Essential Requirements

    Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

    Previous experience as a Section Engineer, Site Engineer or Senior Engineer on major infrastructure projects.

    Strong background in highways, road construction, earthworks or heavy civil engineering.

    Proven experience producing and managing as-built documentation and records.

    Competent in setting out using modern surveying equipment.

    Good understanding of quality management procedures and inspection processes.

    Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

    CSCS Card and relevant site certifications.

    Desirable Experience

    Previous experience working on HS2 or other major infrastructure projects.

    Experience working for Tier 1 contractors or major joint ventures.

    Knowledge of NEC contracts and construction delivery processes.

    Temporary works awareness and utilities coordination experience
