How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Central Recruitment is working with one of the UK's oldest not-for-profit housing associations. They focus on providing good homes and housing services, making a positive difference in communities, and creating an inclusive and supportive place to work.

    Our client is currently recruiting for a Housing Support Worker to work in the Stockwell area at a service that provides support to young adults with complex needs, including mental health, substance misuse, care leavers and challenging behaviour.

    * 37.5 hours per week

    * Monday - Sunday on a rota basis

    * Shift: 08:00 - 16:00 and 14:00 - 22:00

    * Temporary: approx. 3-4 months

    * £16.95 per hour (£14.80 per hour, with £2.15 holiday pay)

    This is an excellent opportunity to support young people on their journey towards independence.

    Please note: this role involves lone working.

    Key responsibilities:

    * Hold a caseload of 1-2 key clients and conduct regular key working sessions resulting in Support Plans

    * Help customers reach their goals and live the life they want by giving them one-on-one support, guidance and coaching

    * Carry out needs and risk assessments

    * Support customers to develop their day to day household skills through teaching and practical support with cleaning, cooking, shopping, gardening and all other normal day to day activities in and around their home

    * Support customers with all parts of their daily lives, such as money and home management including finances to maximise their income and budgeting to cover domestic bills and living expenses

    * Support customers to sustain their housing and identify move on opportunities which meets their future needs

    * Ensure that the tenants needs are met by liaising with other organisations providing access to community-based services and resources

    * Liaise promptly with colleagues, partner agencies and other stakeholders regarding safeguarding, welfare and risk concerns

    * Promptly report any complaints, accidents or unusual incidents to the relevant person

    * Liaise with other external agencies such as Benefit Departments, Local Authorities, Health professionals/agencies etc

    What we’re looking for:

    * Experience working with young adults with complex needs, including mental health, substance misuse, care leavers and challenging behaviour

    * Knowledge of Health and Safety in a supported housing environment

    * Experience of working with vulnerable people and an understanding of safeguarding of vulnerable adults

    * Able to communicate effectively with customers, staff, and external agencies

    * The ability and confidence to lone work and as part of a team

    * Effective at report writing and have good IT literacy and can confidently use Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint and data entry systems.

    Further requirements:

    In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

    * Current valid right to work in the UK

    * Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)

    * A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)

    * Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
