How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Junior PLC Engineer (Training Provided)

    Totnes - commutable from Plymouth, Exeter and Tavistock

    Are you a Junior Engineer with some experience or knowledge of PLC programming looking to develop your career within a specialist renewable energy business?

    Do you want to join a growing company that can offer excellent training, hands-on experience and the opportunity to develop your technical skills alongside an experienced Senior PLC Engineer?

    This company is a specialist control systems and data analytics business focused on the renewable energy sector. They design, build and supply control system solutions that sit between the grid and renewable energy generation systems.

    In this role you will work closely with the Senior PLC Engineer, developing your knowledge of PLC programming and learning how to apply existing control systems across a range of different configurations. The company is willing to provide training to develop your technical knowledge and help you progress within the business.

    This is a great opportunity for a Junior Engineer, recent graduate or technical college graduate with an interest in PLC programming and electrical systems to build a long-term career within a growing specialist business.

    The Role:
    *PLC Programming: Developing and modifying PLC programmes for standard projects
    *System Development: Learning existing programming methods and adapting code for different system configurations
    *Engineering Support: Working closely with the Senior PLC Engineer across a range of projects
    *Technical Development: Building knowledge of control systems, PLCs and LV electrical systems through structured training and practical experience

    The Person:
    *Some knowledge or experience of PLC programming
    *Degree or technical qualification in Engineering, Mathematics, Science or a similar technical discipline would be advantageous
    *Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    *Keen to learn and develop technically
    *Good communication and teamwork skills
