How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Position: Commercial Vehicle Technician Level 3

    Location: London Borough of Barnet, Oakleigh Depot, , LONDON, N11 1HJ

    Start Date: ASAP

    Contract Duration: Permanent - Please note that this role has a rotating shift pattern which is essential to follow for the role

    Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week

    Pay Rate: PAYE: £ 41,024.00 per year

    Job Responsibilities

    Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on commercial vehicles and council fleet vehicles.

    Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.

    Complete routine inspections, MOT preparation and preventative maintenance.

    Repair and replace vehicle components, including brakes, suspension, steering and engine systems.

    Ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications, safety standards and legal requirements.

    Maintain accurate service, repair and inspection records.

    Carry out vehicle checks and report defects or safety concerns.

    Respond efficiently to breakdowns and repair requirements where required.

    Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.

    Work effectively with colleagues and operational teams to minimise vehicle downtime.

    Person Specification

    Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent.

    Proven experience working as a commercial vehicle technician or similar role.

    Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle mechanical and electrical systems.

    Experience using vehicle diagnostic equipment.

    Good understanding of health and safety and relevant vehicle legislation.

    Able to diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently.

    Good practical, problem-solving and mechanical skills.

    Reliable, organised and able to work to deadlines.

    Able to work independently and as part of a team.

    Full UK driving licence, with relevant commercial vehicle categories desirable
