How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Assistant Quantity Surveyor
    Central London
    Offering up to £40,000 (dependent on experience)

    About the Role

    Our client, a well-established contractor operating across Central London, is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious QS with groundworks subcontractor experience to develop their career within a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

    You will work closely with senior commercial staff, gaining exposure to a range of live groundworks packages across residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects in and around London.

    Key Responsibilities

    Assist in the preparation of subcontractor accounts, valuations, and applications for payment
    Support cost tracking and reporting on groundworks packages
    Help prepare and issue subcontractor orders, variations, and instructions
    Measure and value completed groundworks (excavation, drainage, foundations, substructure works)
    Assist with procurement and comparison of subcontractor/supplier quotations
    Support the resolution of subcontractor queries and disputes
    Attend site visits and progress meetings as required
    Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation
    Liaise with site management, project teams, and subcontractorsRequirements

    Previous experience working for a groundworks subcontractor, ideally in a commercial/QS support role
    Strong understanding of groundworks packages (drainage, excavation, RC frame interfaces, substructures)
    Working towards or holding a relevant qualification (BSc/HNC in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar) desirable
    Good working knowledge of measurement, valuations, and subcontractor accounts
    Proficient in Excel; experience with COINS, CATO, or similar commercial software advantageous
    Strong numerical, analytical, and communication skills
    Ability to work well within a team and manage multiple priorities
    Full UK driving licence (site visits may be required)
