How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are looking for multiple Mechanical Design Engineers to join a well-established engineering team delivering innovative solutions across the UK nuclear sector.

    This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging projects within a highly regulated environment while benefiting from a flexible hybrid working arrangement and the opportunity to contribute to major nuclear programmes.

    The Role

    As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical design solutions across a range of nuclear projects. Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll support projects from concept through to detailed design, ensuring designs meet client specifications, industry standards and regulatory requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Produce high-quality mechanical designs for nuclear engineering projects

    * Develop designs from concept through to detailed design and manufacture

    * Prepare and review engineering drawings, models and technical documentation

    * Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams

    * Participate in design reviews and support engineering change activities

    * Ensure designs comply with quality, safety and regulatory requirements

    * Support the successful delivery of complex projects within a highly regulated environment

    What We're Looking For

    * Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer

    * Experience delivering projects within the nuclear sector or another highly regulated industry

    * Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering best practice

    * Ability to produce high-quality engineering documentation

    * Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

    * Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative engineering team

    Desirable Experience

    * Detailed design within the nuclear industry

    * Safety-critical engineering projects

    * Knowledge of relevant engineering standards and quality processes

    * Experience using industry-standard 3D CAD software such as SOLIDWORKS, Inventor, Creo or Siemens NX

    * Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership
