How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We're looking for talented Mechanical Designers with strong SOLIDWORKS or Autodesk Inventor experience to join a growing nuclear engineering team based in Winchester. This is an exciting opportunity to work on technically challenging projects within the UK nuclear sector while benefiting from a flexible hybrid working arrangement.

    The Role

    As a Mechanical Designer, you'll play a key role in delivering mechanical design solutions for nuclear and highly regulated engineering projects. You'll be responsible for producing high-quality 3D models and manufacturing drawings, supporting projects from concept through to manufacture, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Produce detailed 3D CAD models using SOLIDWORKS or Autodesk Inventor

    * Create accurate manufacturing drawings in accordance with BS 8888

    * Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles to engineering drawings

    * Develop designs from concept through to manufacture for nuclear engineering applications

    * Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams

    * Support design reviews and implement engineering changes where required

    * Ensure designs comply with quality, safety and regulatory requirements within a highly regulated environment

    * Contribute to the successful delivery of projects across the UK nuclear industry

    What We're Looking For

    * Proven experience as a Mechanical Designer

    * Strong proficiency in SOLIDWORKS and/or Autodesk Inventor

    * Excellent knowledge of BS 8888

    * Experience applying GD&T to engineering drawings

    * Ability to produce high-quality manufacturing documentation

    * Experience working within the nuclear sector or another highly regulated industry is highly desirable

    * Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

    * Excellent communication and team-working abilities

    Desirable Experience

    * Nuclear, defence, aerospace or other highly regulated industries

    * Bespoke machinery or specialist equipment design

    * Sheet metal, fabricated assemblies or machined components

    * Design for Manufacture (DFM)

    * Product development and engineering change management
