How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    - Salary: £28,000
    - Contract: Initial 3-month temporary contract, with potential to extend

    Key responsibilities:
    - Extract, analyse and manipulate financial and sales ledger data to support reporting and decision-making.
    - Produce regular finance reports, dashboards and analysis, identifying trends, variances, exceptions and areas requiring attention.
    - Investigate data discrepancies, account queries and other issues, working with relevant teams to understand and resolve problems.
    - Support reconciliations, month-end reporting and wider Finance processes.
    - Maintain and review finance and customer data, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
    - Identify gaps or inefficiencies within existing processes and suggest improvements.
    - Work closely with Finance, Sales and other internal teams to ensure data and reporting is accurate and reliable.
    - Provide analysis and updates to the Financial Controller, highlighting key findings, risks and actions required.
    - Support ad hoc analysis, projects and system/process improvements as required.

    About you:
    - Strong experience working with Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, charts and data manipulation.
    - A genuine interest in working with data and investigating discrepancies or problems.
    - Previous experience within a Finance environment, with an understanding of basic finance processes, ideally including Sales Ledger.
    - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to spot inconsistencies and understand the reasons behind them.
    - Highly organised, with good attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
    - Confident communicating findings and explaining data to stakeholders across the business.
    - Experience with NetSuite or another ERP system would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
    - A proactive approach, with the confidence to question processes and look for ways to improve them.
