How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Orion Group is supporting a leading national infrastructure and construction contractor delivering the £185 million A9 Tomatin to Moy upgrade.

    Our client is transforming a key section of the route by converting the existing single‑carriageway into a dual carriageway, constructing four new bridges, and improving junctions and side roads to enhance safety and regional transport links.
    Successful candidates will enjoy being part of a major national improvement programme, contributing to meaningful work that directly enhances local infrastructure, safety and economic growth across the Highlands.
     
    What you'll be doing

    3Role Purpose
    Undertake site engineering control and implementation of works on site, including monitoring and reporting progress.

    Produce Task Briefing Sheets
    Contribute to production of Permit to Dig, including briefing to the workforce
    Carry out briefings and toolbox talks
    Conduct Safety Inspections
    Identify hazards and contribute to developing Safe Systems of WorkEngineering Control
    Set out from primary control provided by others
    Provide sketches detailing the setting out information installed
    Maintain survey equipment, including registers and testing regimes
    Read and determine information from drawings, schedules, and specificationsQuality
    Produce as-built drawings and records for every element of the works involved
    Complete Quality Check Sheets and produce information for Handover Documentation in line with programme
    Maintain accurate records – Daily Diary, photographs, records of site discussionsProductivity
    Measure actual materials used and reconcile with theoretical measures, reporting and investigating reasons for differences
    Work to Weekly Programme (drafted by others) and mark up progress achieved weekly
    Contribute to collection of data for Key Performance Indicators, including reasons for differenceCommercial
    Produce accurate daily diary of resources, including labour, plant, materials, subcontractors, and outputs
    Produce weekly measure, take-offs, and schedule materials accurately, producing clear requisitions and following through to delivery
    Understand what is classified as additional work and how to record this
    Be familiar with actual resourcing levels versus budget and report reasons for differences
