How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

You will manage an existing portfolio while actively identifying and developing new business opportunities, with responsibility for maintaining strong portfolio quality and recognising early warning signs that may impact customer or portfolio performance.

You will work closely with colleagues across the branch and wider business, supporting business development, credit processes, customer service and effective risk and control management.

    Key Responsibilities

    Customer & Relationship Management

Manage and develop an assigned portfolio of Commercial and SME customers.
Build strong, long-term relationships through regular customer meetings, networking and proactive engagement.
Identify opportunities for new business, deposits, lending and other relevant financial solutions.
Generate referrals to Trade Finance, FX and Islamic Banking specialists where appropriate.
Support targeted account opening and deposit growth.
Maintain high standards of customer service and ensure fair customer outcomes.
Manage the portfolio in line with applicable conduct and customer treatment requirements.

    Commercial & Business Development

Deliver targeted asset and deposit growth for the branch.
Develop and negotiate customer proposals for lending and deposits.
Prepare and submit proposals to relevant internal credit and account-opening teams.
Support the delivery of lending in line with agreed branch objectives.
Identify opportunities to grow and strengthen existing corporate and commercial relationships.
Monitor portfolio performance and proactively address emerging risks.

    Credit, Risk & Controls

Manage credit renewals within relevant policies and agreed timescales.
Prepare and present cases to the appropriate credit committees.
Support colleagues with complex credit enquiries and provide subject-matter expertise.
Monitor key accounts, excesses and relevant risk indicators.
Ensure customer accounts, transactions and compliance requirements are managed appropriately.
Maintain strong awareness of regulatory, conduct and credit risk requirements.

    Branch & Team Support

Coach and support Relationship Managers and Relationship Support Officers, helping colleagues achieve agreed KPIs.
Provide quality assurance support in collaboration with relevant stakeholder teams.
Support branch management with MI, data analysis, presentations, meetings and governance activities.
Contribute to branch projects and initiatives.
Act as a point of reference for interns and colleagues requiring project or training support.
Demonstrate strong organisation, diary management and prioritisation skills.

    What We're Looking For

    Experience & Qualifications

Minimum 5 years' experience in a Relationship Manager or equivalent role within banking.
Strong experience managing Commercial, SME or corporate customer relationships.
Experience in lending, credit assessment and portfolio management.
Previous line-management, coaching or team-development experience.
Relevant professional qualifications and evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development.
Strong understanding of banking products, processes, credit and regulatory requirements.
Experience working within a regulated financial services environment.

    Skills & Competencies

    Strong financial and numerical capability.
Excellent relationship management and customer service skills.
Strong knowledge of core banking products and processes.
Good understanding of regulatory and risk requirements.
    Effective negotiation and influencing skills.
    Strong communication and listening skills.
Confident and professional approach when dealing with customers and internal stakeholders.
    Excellent presentation and coordination skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain a well-organised portfolio.

    What You'll Bring

We are looking for someone who is commercially minded, customer-focused and confident in managing complex relationships. You will be comfortable balancing business development with robust risk and control standards and will have the judgement to identify opportunities as well as potential risks within a portfolio.

You should also be committed to developing colleagues, contributing positively to the branch environment and maintaining high professional and regulatory standards.

    Regulatory & Conduct Requirements

The successful candidate will be expected to meet all applicable regulatory, conduct, certification and competence requirements associated with the role.

This includes acting with integrity, exercising due skill, care and diligence, treating customers fairly, maintaining appropriate standards of market conduct and ensuring that relevant policies, procedures and regulatory requirements are followed.

The role holder will also be expected to maintain their professional competence through ongoing training and CPD and demonstrate the technical and behavioural competencies required for the position.
