The successful Family Paralegal will support solicitors across LAA-funded and private client matters, gaining hands-on exposure to case preparation, client contact, advocacy and court proceedings.
The Family Paralegal's Role
Assisting solicitors with a broad range of Family Law matters
Supporting LAA-funded and private client cases
Attending clients, taking instructions and preparing cases
Drafting correspondence, witness statements and other legal documents
Preparing and managing Legal Aid funding applications
Processing and reviewing evidence
Attending conferences and court hearings
Undertaking advocacy where appropriate
Maintaining accurate case records and time costing
Assisting with file reviews and implementing recommendations
Ensuring compliance with firm procedures and file management requirements
Liaising with clients and other parties throughout matters
The Family Paralegal
Law degree or equivalent legal qualification
Previous experience within Family Law or a strong demonstrable interest in the area
Good understanding of Family Law principles
Strong academic background
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong client care skills and a sensitive, professional approach
Excellent organisational and analytical abilities
Ability to work independently and use initiative
Strong attention to detail
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
Self-motivated, proactive and commercially aware
Ability to work effectively within a team and manage competing priorities
