How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Job Title: Engineering and Project Manager

    Location: Newcastle

    Salary: Competitive

    The Company:

A household name within FMCG manufacturing, this is a highly established and successful business operating within a stable and resilient market.

With continued investment planned across its manufacturing operations, the business is focused on developing its products, processes and, importantly, its people. They have built an excellent reputation within their market and are now looking to strengthen their engineering leadership team as they enter the next stage of their growth and development.

This is an opportunity to join a secure, forward-thinking manufacturer where Engineering will play an important role in improving site performance and supporting future investment.

    Job Description:

As Engineering and Project Manager, you will take a leading role in the development of the site's engineering function while delivering a range of improvement and investment projects across the manufacturing operation.

You will lead and develop the engineering team, helping to create a proactive culture centred around reliability, continuous improvement and high standards of performance.

Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will take ownership of engineering and CAPEX projects, managing them from initial concept through to implementation. This could include new machinery, equipment upgrades, production improvements and wider site development projects.

Working closely with Operations and other departments across the business, you will identify opportunities to improve manufacturing performance, reduce downtime and increase efficiency.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    * Leading, coaching and developing the engineering team.

    * Delivering engineering and CAPEX projects from concept through to completion.

    * Driving improvements in equipment reliability, efficiency and site performance.

    * Developing a proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.

    * Identifying opportunities to improve manufacturing processes and reduce operational costs.

    * Supporting the introduction of new equipment, technology and production processes.

    * Managing external suppliers and contractors throughout engineering projects.

    * Working collaboratively with Production, Operations and other departments across the site.

    * Helping to develop the longer-term engineering strategy and investment roadmap.

    Skills Required:

    * Previous engineering leadership experience within an FMCG or fast-paced manufacturing environment.

    * Strong experience delivering engineering or CAPEX projects.

    * A good understanding of maintenance, reliability and manufacturing engineering.

    * Experience driving continuous improvement within a production environment.

    * Strong people-management skills with the ability to coach and develop engineering teams.

    * Commercial awareness and confidence managing project budgets and external suppliers.

    * A practical, solutions-focused approach to engineering challenges.

    * Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across different departments and levels of a business.

    * An engineering qualification or relevant technical background would be advantageous.

    Why Join?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a household name within FMCG at an exciting stage of its development.

The business operates within a stable market and is continuing to invest in its manufacturing capabilities, products and people, providing genuine long-term career potential.

Rather than simply maintaining an existing engineering operation, you will have the opportunity to influence how the function develops, introduce new ideas and deliver projects that have a visible impact on site performance.

For an experienced engineering professional looking for a combination of leadership, project delivery, continuous improvement and long-term development, this is a role offering both stability and the opportunity to make your mark
