How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Overview

We are currently working with a leading main contractor who are looking to appoint an Assistant Design Manager to join their team on a major student accommodation development in London.

The project will deliver 662 private student rooms within a high-quality, design-led development. The scheme comprises three connected blocks ranging from 9 to 22 storeys, providing a range of student accommodation alongside extensive communal, amenity and recreation spaces.

    The Role

As Assistant Design Manager, you will support the Design Manager in managing and coordinating the design process from pre-construction through to delivery on site. You will work closely with architects, consultants, subcontractors and the construction team to ensure the design is coordinated, buildable and delivered in line with programme and quality requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Assist the Design Manager with the overall design management and coordination of the project.

    * Coordinate design information between consultants, subcontractors and the site team.

    * Review drawings, specifications and technical information to identify design issues and clashes.

    * Manage and track RFIs, design changes and technical queries.

    * Attend and contribute to design coordination meetings.

    * Liaise with architects, structural engineers, M&E consultants and specialist subcontractors.

    * Ensure design information is issued in line with the construction programme.

    * Assist with design reviews and value engineering exercises.

    * Monitor design deliverables and ensure information is suitable for construction.

    * Work closely with the commercial and construction teams to resolve technical issues.

    * Assist with maintaining design registers, trackers and document control.

    * Support the Design Manager through the various RIBA stages and into construction.

    Requirements

    * Previous experience working as an Assistant Design Manager, Design Coordinator or Technical Coordinator within a main contractor environment.

    * Experience working on residential, student accommodation, hotel or other high-rise schemes.

    * Strong understanding of design coordination and construction processes.

    * Ability to read and understand architectural, structural and M&E drawings.

    * A construction, engineering or architectural qualification would be advantageous.

    * Experience working with consultants and specialist subcontractors.

    * Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

    * Experience working on complex, multi-storey developments is highly desirable.

    Why Join?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a major project and gain exposure to a large-scale, high-rise student accommodation scheme, working alongside an experienced project and design team. The successful candidate will have genuine progression opportunities and the chance to develop their career within a leading main contractor.

If you're an Assistant Design Manager or Design Coordinator with residential experience and are looking for your next major project, we'd be keen to hear from you
