How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Description

    The Senior Structures Engineer works within the aerospace sector, responsible for the design, analysis and validation of aircraft structural components and assemblies. The role involves applying engineering principles to ensure structural integrity, safety and compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations. The individual contributes to the development of innovative solutions and supports production and maintenance activities by providing technical expertise and guidance.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Conduct detailed structural analysis using recognised engineering methods, including finite element analysis, to assess strength, fatigue, and durability of aerospace structures.
    Design and develop structural components and assemblies in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
    Review and interpret technical specifications, drawings and design documentation to ensure compliance and feasibility.
    Lead and support root cause investigations related to structural failures or non-conformities.
    Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including design, manufacturing, testing and quality assurance to ensure integrated engineering solutions.
    Prepare technical reports, design justifications and certification documentation for regulatory approval.
    Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians within the team.
    Participate in design reviews, risk assessments and project meetings to contribute expert advice on structural matters.
    Maintain up-to-date knowledge of aerospace materials, technologies and regulatory requirements.
    Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance structural design processes and methodologies.

    Required Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
    Professional engineering registration or membership with a recognised institution is desirable but not mandatory.

    Experience

    Minimum of five years’ experience in structural engineering within the aerospace industry or a closely related engineering field.
    Proven experience in structural analysis techniques and use of relevant software tools.
    Demonstrated experience in the design and certification of aerospace structures.
    Experience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of aerospace standards such as EASA CS-25 or equivalent is advantageous.

    Knowledge and Skills

    Strong understanding of structural mechanics, materials science and stress analysis.
    Proficient in the use of engineering software such as finite element analysis packages and CAD tools.
    Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex technical data.
    Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to prepare technical documentation and present findings clearly.
    Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
    Organised and able to manage multiple priorities to meet project deadlines.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Master’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline.
    Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
    Experience with certification processes and regulatory bodies within the aerospace sector.
    Familiarity with composite materials and advanced manufacturing techniques.

    Working Conditions

    The role is based in Brough, East Riding of Yorkshire, and requires full-time hours on a contract basis. The position primarily involves office-based work complemented by occasional visits to manufacturing and testing facilities. The working environment is professional and demands adherence to health and safety regulations relevant to aerospace engineering. Flexibility to attend meetings and site visits as required is expected
