How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Location: North East / Yorkshire
    Type: Permanent

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced H&S Manager to join an established and growing construction business operating across the North of England.

    The role will provide hands-on health and safety support across civil engineering, infrastructure and utilities projects, working closely with site teams, project managers, subcontractors and senior management.

    The business delivers a broad range of civil engineering works including groundworks, earthworks, drainage, foundations, roads and sewers, utilities, remediation and infrastructure projects.

    The Role

    * Provide day-to-day H&S leadership across multiple construction projects.

    * Carry out site inspections, audits and investigations.

    * Review and monitor RAMS, CPPs and other H&S documentation.

    * Ensure compliance with CDM and current UK H&S legislation.

    * Work closely with site management and subcontractors to maintain high standards.

    * Support risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.

    * Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and H&S training.

    * Monitor and improve site safety performance and reporting.

    * Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.

    * Promote a positive and proactive safety culture throughout the business.

    * Liaise with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders.

    * Provide practical H&S advice across civils and infrastructure projects.

    About You

    The ideal candidate will have:

    * Previous experience in a construction/civil engineering H&S role.

    * NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.

    * Strong knowledge of CDM, RAMS and construction-site safety.

    * Experience working with subcontractors and site management teams.

    * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    * A practical, hands-on approach to health and safety.

    * The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

    * A full UK driving licence
