How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Events & Business Development Assistant

    Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
    Location: Fully Remote (UK)
    Travel: Monthly team day in London, plus attendance at industry events and roadshows as required
    Contract: Fixed-Term Maternity Contract September 2026 - January 2028

    Full Time, Permanent (9am - 5pm)

    About the Role

    We're looking for a proactive and highly organised Events & Business Development Assistant to join a growing, purpose-led charity that supports people working across the electrical and energy industries.

    This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting income generation, partnership development, events, training programmes and industry engagement. Working closely with the Director of Marketing & Business Development, you'll help ensure opportunities are followed up effectively, stakeholders remain engaged, and business development activities are delivered to a high standard.

    This role would suit someone with experience in business development support, sales administration, events coordination, account management support, or a similar commercially focused administrative role.

    Key Responsibilities

    Support business development and partnership growth activities through effective follow-up and coordination.
    Conduct follow-up calls with prospective partners and supporters following initial conversations.
    Research and identify new business opportunities using industry resources, directories and publications.
    Maintain prospect pipelines, tracking spreadsheets and communication templates
    Coordinate attendance at industry events, exhibitions and roadshows
    Manage event logistics, materials, calendars and checklists
    Source new industry events and networking opportunities
    Support charity presentations and external engagement activities.
    Assist with the delivery and promotion of training and education initiatives
    Manage bookings, invoicing and attendee communications
    Maintain accurate records within Salesforce and other business systems
    Oversee invoicing processes and ensure accurate record-keeping
    Produce presentations, letters, speeches and supporting materials as required

    About You

    We're looking for someone who is:

    Experienced in a business development, sales support, fundraising support or commercial administration role.
    Confident making follow-up calls and building professional relationships.
    Confident to present and talk about the charity at events
    Exceptionally organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
    Comfortable using CRM systems, spreadsheets and Microsoft Office applications.
    A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal skills.
    Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment.Desirable

    Existing contacts within the electrical or energy sectors.
    Experience working within a charity, membership body or not-for-profit organisation.
    Knowledge of partnership development and stakeholder engagementImportant Requirement

    Due to regular attendance at industry events, roadshows and external engagements, applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.
