How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: London & Home Counties
Sector: Building and Construction (Education Projects)
    Industry: Building & Construction
    Rate: £230 - £250 per day
    Start Date: Immediate

    Overview

Our client is a growing main contractor with an annual turnover of approximately £4 million, delivering high-quality new build projects across the South East.

Due to a strong pipeline of secured work, they are seeking an experienced Working Foreman / Working Site Supervisor to join the team on a long-term basis.

This role would suit a hands-on construction professional with a strong carpentry background who enjoys leading site operations while remaining involved in the practical delivery of projects.

The company delivers predominantly education-sector schemes, making quality, safety and professionalism key priorities throughout project delivery.

    The Role

Reporting into the Project Manager, you will oversee daily site operations while remaining part-time on the tools when required.

You will coordinate trades and subcontractors, monitor programme progress, maintain quality standards and help deliver projects safely from groundworks through to completion.

Candidates must have proven experience delivering new build projects from start to finish, not solely internal fit-out works.

    Key Responsibilities

    Site Management & Project Delivery

    Oversee day-to-day site activities
    Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and labour
Monitor programme progress and project milestones
Ensure works are completed safely, on time and to the required quality standards
Carry out site inspections and resolve construction issues
Support projects from groundwork stage through to handover
    Maintain site records and reporting

    Working Foreman Duties

Remain hands-on and undertake carpentry works where required
Provide leadership and technical support to site teams
Drive productivity and maintain programme targets
Lead by example regarding quality, safety and workmanship

    Health & Safety

Maintain a safe and compliant site environment
Ensure adherence to health & safety procedures
    Monitor subcontractor compliance
Report hazards, incidents and unsafe practices

    Communication & Coordination

Liaise with site teams, subcontractors and management
Attend site meetings and provide progress updates
Support successful project delivery and programme performance
Maintain effective communication across all stakeholders

    Requirements

Previous experience as a Working Foreman, Site Supervisor or similar
    Carpentry background essential
Proven experience delivering new build projects from start to completion
Comfortable remaining part-time on the tools
Strong understanding of construction sequencing and build processes
    Excellent communication and organisational skills
Ability to manage subcontractors and site teams effectively
    Proactive and solutions-focused approach
    Full UK Driving Licence

    Desirable

    Education sector project experience
    SSSTS or SMSTS
    First Aid qualification
    Current DBS Certificate

    The Opportunity

Projects are located across Stanmore, Harlow and surrounding areas, offering long-term stability and the opportunity to progress into a permanent position or remain on a long-term day-rate arrangement.

Please note: Due to the nature of the projects, candidates must be able to pass safeguarding checks. A clean criminal record is essential. A DBS certificate is advantageous, although one can be arranged for the successful candidate
