How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Semiconductor Production Operator / Manufacturing Operator

    Location: Newport, South Wales
    Contract Type: Temp to Perm
Salary: £25,445 per annum plus shift allowance of 20%, 30% or 50%

Manpower is proud to be recruiting on behalf of Vishay Newport, a world-leading manufacturer of advanced semiconductor technology. Due to continued growth, investment and expansion within their state-of-the-art fabrication facility, we are seeking motivated and reliable individuals to join their Manufacturing team as Semiconductor Production Operators.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly invested, fast-growing semiconductor manufacturing environment where you will work with cutting-edge technology, advanced manufacturing equipment and modern clean-room facilities. Whether you have previous manufacturing experience or are looking to start a career within the semiconductor industry, full training will be provided.

Working within a controlled clean-room environment, you will play a vital role in the production of high-quality semiconductor products used globally across a range of industries. This position offers excellent career development opportunities, ongoing training and the chance to become part of a global technology leader.

    The Role

As a Semiconductor Production Operator, Manufacturing Operator, Production Technician or Clean Room Operative, you will be responsible for operating specialist FAB equipment and manufacturing tools while following strict quality, safety and process standards. You will accurately record production data, monitor manufacturing processes, and work closely with team leaders and colleagues to ensure production targets and quality standards are achieved.

You will work within a highly regulated semiconductor fabrication environment where attention to detail, accuracy and compliance with operating procedures are essential. You will also be responsible for following all Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements and escalating any concerns when necessary.

    Key Responsibilities

Operate specialist semiconductor manufacturing equipment and production tools within the FAB environment. Work within a controlled clean-room environment while adhering to clean-room protocols and contamination control procedures. Follow detailed manufacturing specifications, standard operating procedures and quality standards. Complete accurate system and production data entry for process documentation and traceability. Escalate equipment, quality or process concerns to senior operators or team leaders as required. Comply with all Environmental, Health and Safety requirements and contribute to a safe working environment.

    What We're Looking For

Full training is provided; however, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work. You will possess excellent communication and teamwork skills, good time management and the ability to follow detailed instructions. Basic computer literacy is essential as all manufacturing tools require data input and documentation. Candidates must be willing and able to work across all shift patterns.

Previous experience within manufacturing, production, engineering, electronics manufacturing, semiconductor production, clean-room operations, assembly, pharmaceutical manufacturing, medical device production or process operations would be advantageous but is not essential.
