How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Zest4Talent is recruiting a Graduate Building Acoustics Consultant for a successful and well-established specialist consultancy based in Bedford.

This is an excellent opportunity for an analytical, practically minded graduate who is interested in engineering, buildings and the science of sound. Previous experience in acoustics is not required, as comprehensive training and one-to-one mentoring will be provided.

    The role

Building acoustics focuses on how sound travels within and between buildings. Acoustic consultants work alongside architects, developers, engineers and construction teams to create buildings that are comfortable, compliant and fit for purpose.

You will receive structured training while gaining practical experience across live projects. Your responsibilities will gradually include:

    *

Attending sites and completing noise-measurement surveys

    *

    Carrying out sound-insulation testing

    *

Using specialist software to produce acoustic models

    *

Analysing technical information and survey results

    *

Preparing clear and professional technical reports

    *

Supporting the acoustic design of new buildings and developments

    *

Communicating with architects, developers, engineers and construction teams

    *

    Attending client and project meetings

    *

Supporting projects through planning, design, construction and completion

As your technical knowledge and confidence develop, you will be given increasing responsibility and the opportunity to manage your own projects from start to finish.

    The successful candidate

To be considered for this Graduate Building Acoustics Consultant position, you will need:

    *

A degree in acoustics, engineering, physics, mathematics, audio technology or another relevant technical subject

    *

Maths or Physics at A level

    *

A genuine interest in engineering, construction and the built environment

    *

Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills

    *

A practical approach and an interest in understanding how things work

    *

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    *

A confident, professional and client-focused manner

    *

Strong organisation and attention to detail

    *

A friendly, enthusiastic and approachable personality

    *

    A full UK driving licence

    *

The existing right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship

    Location

The role is based at modern, out-of-town offices in Bedford, with free on-site parking.

Candidates must be able to commute reliably to the Bedford office. A driving licence is essential, as the position will also involve travelling to project sites.

    What is on offer?

Starting salary of £26,000+ per annum

    *

Regular salary reviews as your skills and responsibilities develop

    *

One-to-one mentoring from experienced acoustic consultants

    *

Early involvement in live and high-profile projects

    *

    Excellent long-term career-development opportunities

    *

The opportunity to develop technical and client-management skills

    *

A supportive and collaborative working environment
