How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

A growing project management consultancy is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead complex public sector infrastructure and built environment projects across the Midlands and North. The successful Project Director will take a senior, client-facing position with responsibility for major projects during the critical pre-contract and governance stages. This is a strong opportunity for a Project Director who enjoys bringing structure, commercial awareness and strategic direction to complex programmes.

The Project Director will work closely with public authorities, consultants and delivery partners, leading multidisciplinary teams and establishing robust governance, reporting and decision-making structures. The role would suit a confident Project Director with significant experience working in council or wider public sector environments. As Project Director, you will combine strategic project leadership with stakeholder management and commercial oversight, ensuring projects are properly structured and positioned for successful delivery.

You must have prior construction consultancy experience to be considered for this role.

    The Project Director's role

The Project Director will lead the pre-contract phase of major infrastructure and built environment projects, managing senior client relationships and providing strategic technical direction.

Key responsibilities will include establishing project controls and governance frameworks, managing programme set-up, risk and assurance processes, coordinating specialist consultants and overseeing commercial performance. The Project Director will also work closely with local authorities and other public sector stakeholders, navigating planning, design, procurement and construction requirements.

    The Project Director

The successful Project Director will ideally have:

Significant experience leading public sector infrastructure or built environment projects
Strong experience working with local authorities or within council-led environments
Extensive pre-contract and project set-up experience
A relevant degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
A relevant professional qualification such as MRICS, MAPM, MCIOB or CEng
Strong knowledge of planning, design, procurement and construction processes
    Experience managing multidisciplinary consultant teams
Strong commercial and project governance experience
Knowledge of NEC, ICC and JCT contracts
An engineering or regeneration background would be advantageous

    In Return?

    £85,000-£95,000
    Management bonus scheme
    Enhanced pension
25 days' holiday plus bank holidays and loyalty days
Private health insurance and life assurance
    Holiday purchase and sale scheme
    Professional development and training
Enhanced family leave and wellbeing benefits
