How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    A well-established manufacturing business based in the Cheshire/Chester area is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team.     Your new role

    As Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely payroll services for both monthly salaried and hourly paid employees. Working closely with key stakeholders across the business, you will help ensure payroll operations run smoothly while supporting ongoing process improvements and change initiatives.
    Key responsibilities will include:

    Working closely with the outsourced provider to deliver accurate payroll on a monthly basis for monthly and hourly paid payrolls
    Managing starters, leavers, contractual changes, overtime and absence data
    Ensuring payroll compliance with current HMRC legislation
    Reconciling payroll reports and supporting month-end activities
    Resolving payroll queries in a professional and timely manner
    Supporting payroll process improvements during a period of business change
    Liaising with HR, Finance and operational teams to maintain payroll accuracy
    What you'll need to succeed

    To be successful in this role, you will have,

    Experience processing both salaried and hourly paid payrolls
    Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and payroll best practice
    Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
    The ability to work effectively in a changing environment
    Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
    A proactive and positive approach with the confidence to challenge and improve existing processes
    Proven end-to-end payroll experience
