How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
    Location: Hereford
    Salary: £60,000 to £75,000
    Employment Type: Fixed-term contract
    Working Arrangements: Onsite working

Are you a hands‑on Manufacturing Engineer with strong electromechanical experience and a background in low–medium volume, high‑value product build environments?

Verso are offering a short, fixed‑term contract where you’ll support the transition of complex prototypes into stable, repeatable production - working directly with design, production, and test teams on a major engineering programme entering its final development phase.

This role is fully on‑site in Hereford and ideal for someone available now, confident in their abilities, and comfortable getting stuck into both mechanical and electromechanical assemblies.

    The Role
This is a practical, shop‑floor‑focused Manufacturing Engineer position supporting the build, inspection, and early industrialisation of electromechanical products. You’ll work closely with production and design engineering to inspect initial parts, run prototype testing, and help shape how assemblies are built and validated.

You’ll bring structure, clarity, and hands‑on support to a fast‑moving environment where prototypes are still evolving - ensuring issues are captured early and fed back into design.

    Key Responsibilities:
    - Support the transition of electromechanical prototypes into stable, repeatable production.
    - Inspect incoming parts and build early inspection criteria and documentation.
    - Run in‑house testing and provide clear feedback to design engineering.
    - Work with mechanical and production engineers on assembly flow, jigs, and tooling improvements.
    - Create practical test documentation, build instructions, and goods‑in inspection processes.
    - Provide hands‑on support across production and engineering — no consultancy mindset, just teamwork and delivery.
    - Help mature evolving designs into manufacturable, structured assemblies.

    What We’re Looking For
    - Mechanical or electromechanical manufacturing background.
    - Ability to read and interpret CAD/mechanical drawings.
    - Experience in low–medium volume, high‑value product manufacturing.
    - Comfortable with hands‑on inspection, assembly support, and prototype testing.
    - Strong communication skills - written and verbal.
    - Practical, adaptable, and confident working within an established engineering team.

    Desirable Experience
    - Electromechanical prototypes (PCBs, RF cabling, multi‑part assemblies).
    - CAD proficiency for inspection‑type drawings.
    - Experience in fast‑paced development or maturing product environments.
