How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Quantity Surveyor

Construction | Social Housing & New Build

Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Location: Wolverhampton, West Midlands (office-based with regular site visits)

    Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Sector: Construction / Social Housing / New Build

    About the Company

Our client is a leading construction company and one of the fastest-growing contractors in the UK, with an established reputation for delivering high-quality social housing and new build residential schemes across the West Midlands and beyond. As a result of continued, sustained growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team, working from their Wolverhampton office alongside regular time on site.

    The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in construction, social housing, and new build projects to join a business that is genuinely growing and can offer a clear long-term career path. You will split your time between the Wolverhampton office and project sites across the region, working closely with site teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered on budget and to programme.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Manage all commercial and financial aspects of social housing and new build projects from pre-construction through to final account.

    * Prepare and agree interim valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts with clients and subcontractors.

    * Procure, negotiate, and manage subcontractor packages, including measuring and valuing work completed.

    * Produce accurate cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections, identifying and managing commercial risk.

    * Carry out site measurements and valuations, liaising closely with site management teams.

    * Manage variations, change control, and contractual correspondence in line with the relevant form of contract.

    * Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners.

    * Support the wider commercial team and contribute to the continued growth of the business.

    Requirements

    * Minimum of 5 years' experience working as a qualified Quantity Surveyor.

    * Proven experience within the construction industry, with specific exposure to social housing and new build projects.

    * A relevant degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

    * MRICS or working towards chartered status is desirable but not essential.

    * Strong commercial and contractual awareness, including knowledge of JCT and/or NEC forms of contract.

    * Confident, proactive communicator, comfortable liaising with clients, site teams, and subcontractors.

    * Willingness and ability to work flexibly between the Wolverhampton office and various sites across the West Midlands.

    * Full UK driving licence required.

    What's On Offer

    * Salary of £40,000 - £55,000, dependent on experience.

    * The chance to join one of the fastest-growing construction companies in the UK.

    * Genuine long-term career progression as the business continues to expand.

    * A varied role split between office and site, working on social housing and new build schemes.

    * Supportive, close-knit commercial team and a strong project pipeline.
