How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Permanent District Heating Engineer – Tower Hamlets

    Location: Tower Hamlets, London
    Position: Permanent, Full-Time
    Salary: £40,300 - Potential for more DOE
    Hours: 8:00am – 5:30pm, 42.5 hours per week
    Probation: 6 months, with the opportunity to review pay following successful completion

    About the Role

    We are currently recruiting for Permanent District Heating Engineers to work on communal heating and hot water systems across occupied domestic properties in Tower Hamlets.

    The successful candidates will have experience working within residential properties and be confident carrying out installation, maintenance, fault finding and repair work on district heating and hot water systems.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Cylinder installation and replacement

    * Unvented cylinder installation

    * Radiator replacement

    * Re-piping within occupied residential properties

    * Installation and replacement of isolation valves and fittings

    * Installation and replacement of 2-port valves, lockshield valves and TRVs

    * Diagnosing and clearing blockages within pipework

    * Electrical fault finding

    * HIU fault finding and replacement of components/parts

    * General maintenance and repair of communal heating and hot water systems

    Call-Out & Standby

    * 1 in 8 weeks call-out rota

    * Standby: £120 Monday–Friday

    * Standby: £180 Saturday–Sunday

    Package & Benefits

    * £40,300, depending on certificates and experience

    * Pay review available following the 6-month probation period

    * Company van and fuel card

    * Personal use of van available for a small charge

    * 21 days' annual leave, excluding bank holidays

    * Month in hand; a subcontractor payment arrangement may be available if required

    Requirements

    * Relevant district heating/plumbing experience

    * Experience working on communal heating and hot water systems

    * Experience working within occupied domestic properties

    * Relevant qualifications/certificates preferred

    * Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills

    * Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    * Full UK driving licence
