How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Site Manager – Small Works Division

    Location: Gloucester / Gloucestershire
    Salary: Up to £65,000 + Package
    Sector: Commercial Construction
    Projects: Up to £4m
    Employment: Permanent

    The Opportunity

    We are currently working in partnership with a well-established and highly regarded construction business in Gloucester to recruit an experienced Site Manager to join their growing Small Works Division.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a Site Manager who enjoys delivering high-quality commercial projects, wants to work predominantly locally, and is looking to join a business where people genuinely matter.

    The Small Works Division delivers a varied portfolio of commercial refurbishments and new-build projects, typically up to a value of around £4 million. Importantly, the division operates exclusively within the commercial sector, with no housing projects, providing a varied and interesting project environment.

    The Role

    As Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of projects from mobilisation through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest possible standard.

    You will be responsible for managing site operations, subcontractors, programme, health & safety, quality and day-to-day coordination with the wider project team.

    This is a hands-on role within a supportive team, suited to someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys building strong relationships with colleagues, subcontractors and clients.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Managing the day-to-day delivery of commercial refurbishment and new-build projects

    * Leading site teams and coordinating subcontractors

    * Maintaining high standards of health & safety, quality and workmanship

    * Managing programmes and ensuring projects remain on track

    * Working closely with Project Managers, Contracts Managers and the wider delivery team

    * Coordinating trades and site activities effectively

    * Managing site documentation, inspections and reporting

    * Ensuring projects are delivered within agreed timescales and standards

    * Maintaining positive relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners

    * Taking ownership of the site and driving projects through to successful completion

    About You

    We are looking for an experienced Site Manager with a strong commercial construction background.

    You will ideally have experience delivering refurbishment and/or new-build commercial projects, with project values up to around £4m.

    You'll be someone who:

    * Has proven experience as a Site Manager within commercial construction

    * Is confident managing subcontractors and site teams

    * Has a strong understanding of health & safety and quality requirements

    * Can programme, plan and coordinate site activities effectively

    * Takes ownership and pride in delivering a high-quality project

    * Communicates well and builds strong working relationships

    * Is organised, proactive and commercially aware

    * Wants to develop their career within a progressive construction business

    Relevant qualifications such as SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid would be expected.

    What's on Offer?

    This is much more than simply another Site Manager position.

    You will be joining a business with a great company ethos, where delivering excellent work is important, but so is looking after the people who deliver it.

    The company places a genuine emphasis on work-life balance, with projects being predominantly local to the Gloucester area. This means less time spent travelling and away from home, allowing you to build a long-term career without sacrificing your personal life.

    In return, you'll receive:

    * Salary up to £65,000

    * Attractive benefits package

    * Predominantly local projects

    * Commercial projects up to £4m

    * No housing

    * Continued training and professional development

    * Genuine opportunities for career progression

    * Supportive and collaborative working environment

    * Strong company ethos and team culture

    * A genuine focus on work-life balance

    * The opportunity to build a long-term career with an established and growing business

    Interested?

    If you're an experienced Site Manager looking for a new challenge with a respected commercial construction business, where you can work locally, develop your career and still maintain a healthy work-life balance, we'd love to hear from you.
