How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Working Mechanical / Piping Site Supervisor

    We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Working Mechanical / Piping Site Supervisor to join our team and take responsibility for the day-to-day supervision, coordination and delivery of mechanical and piping works on site.

    The successful candidate will have a strong mechanical or piping background and be confident supervising site operatives, pipefitters, mechanical trades and subcontractors. This is a working supervisor position, so you will be expected to lead from the front and get involved with the work when required.

    You will ensure mechanical and piping activities are delivered safely, efficiently, to a high standard and in line with project specifications, drawings and programme requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    Supervise and coordinate mechanical, piping and associated site activities.

    Lead pipefitters, mechanical trades, operatives and subcontractors on site.

    Work hands-on alongside the team when required.

    Coordinate daily activities and ensure works remain on programme.

    Read and interpret mechanical drawings, piping layouts, isometrics and project specifications.

    Ensure pipework and mechanical installations are completed to the required standards and specifications.

    Monitor installation, fabrication, fitting and assembly activities.

    Coordinate with other trades and site teams to ensure efficient project delivery.

    Conduct and assist with toolbox talks, inductions and daily briefings.

    Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with RAMS, permits and site procedures.

    Maintain high standards of health, safety and housekeeping.

    Monitor materials, tools, plant and equipment and identify requirements in advance.

    Liaise with Project Managers, Site Managers, engineers, subcontractors and other site personnel.

    Identify and resolve technical or site issues promptly.

    Monitor quality of workmanship and ensure defects or issues are addressed.

    Maintain accurate site records, progress updates and relevant documentation.

    Assist with testing, inspection, commissioning and completion activities where required.

    Provide regular progress updates to management.

    Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standard.

    Requirements

    Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor, Piping Supervisor, Mechanical Foreman, Pipework Supervisor, Working Supervisor or similar.

    Strong practical experience within mechanical installation and/or industrial pipework.

    Good knowledge of pipework installation, mechanical systems and associated construction activities.

    Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, P&IDs, piping isometrics and specifications.

    Experience supervising pipefitters, mechanical trades and subcontractors.

    Proven ability to lead and motivate a site team.

    Strong understanding of health and safety requirements and safe systems of work.

    Experience with RAMS, toolbox talks, permits and site documentation.

    Good understanding of quality requirements and inspection processes.

    Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

    Reliable, proactive and able to work independently.

    Relevant mechanical, piping or construction qualifications.

    Appropriate industry cards/certifications for the role.

    SSSTS/SMSTS or equivalent supervisory qualification would be advantageous.

    CSCS/JIB or relevant industry card would be advantageous, depending on trade background.

    Full UK driving licence would be advantageous.

    Willingness to remain hands-on and lead by example.
