How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Farm Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of a modern broiler farm.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in poultry farming who enjoys a hands-on role and is confident managing both livestock and people.

You will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of bird welfare, health, quality, performance and cost efficiency, while also managing farm staff, contractors, compliance and health & safety.

    Accommodation Provided

As part of the role, the successful candidate will be provided with a 4-bedroom house on or close to the farm.

The accommodation is suitable for a family, and the successful candidate can move into the property with their partner and children. This makes the position an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to relocate with their family.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Manage the day-to-day operation of the broiler farm.

    * Ensure the highest standards of bird welfare are maintained at all times.

    * Monitor and manage ventilation, heating, feed, water, litter and lighting.

    * Maintain excellent biosecurity standards across the site.

    * Ensure company procedures, industry standards and assurance schemes are followed.

    * Complete all required farm records and paperwork accurately and on time.

    * Monitor and test alarm systems and respond to alarms when required.

    * Maintain site security and report any issues promptly.

    * Ensure the farm is kept clean, organised and presentable.

    * Follow all company Health & Safety policies and relevant Codes of Practice.

    * Manage contractors working on site and ensure work is completed to the required standard.

    * Manage and supervise farm employees, including allocating daily tasks and monitoring performance.

    * Support the induction and training of new employees.

    * Monitor sickness and staffing issues and ensure appropriate cover is arranged.

    * Complete employee timesheets accurately and on time.

    * Communicate effectively with the Area Manager and report any concerns or issues promptly.

    * Attend relevant training and complete required industry poultry training.

    About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

    * Previous experience working in poultry farming, ideally within a broiler environment.

    * A strong understanding of livestock and stock management.

    * Experience managing and supervising staff.

    * Good organisational and time-management skills.

    * A practical, hands-on approach to farm management.

    * The ability to prioritise workloads and work under pressure.

    * Strong communication and leadership skills.

    * A proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems.

    * The ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team.

    * A good understanding of animal welfare, biosecurity and health & safety.

Flexibility to work weekends, early mornings and late evenings when required by the needs of the farm.

    What We Offer

    £37,000 salary per year

    4-bedroom house provided

Family-friendly accommodation – partner and children can relocate with the successful candidate

    Full-time permanent opportunity

    Hands-on management position

Opportunity to manage an established broiler farm

Career development opportunities within the poultry industry

    Interested?

If you have previous poultry farm management experience and are looking for a long-term opportunity that can accommodate your family, we would love to hear from you.
