How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Opportunity for an MEP Quantity Surveyor to join a leading Tier 1 main contractor, supporting the commercial delivery of major construction and infrastructure projects across London.

    This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the UK's leading construction businesses, with a strong reputation for delivering complex, high-value projects across the commercial, healthcare, infrastructure, education and specialist sectors. Working alongside experienced commercial, operational and technical teams, the successful candidate will play a key role in managing the commercial performance of mechanical, electrical and public health packages throughout the project lifecycle.

    This position would suit a commercially driven MEP Quantity Surveyor who enjoys working on technically complex projects, building strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners, and taking ownership of commercial performance.

    About the role

    Our client is seeking an MEP Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial management of MEP packages across major projects in London.

    Working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager, Project Managers and MEP teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for procurement, cost control, subcontract management, valuations, variations and final accounts.

    The role provides an opportunity to work on significant projects while developing within an established commercial team.

    Responsibilities for MEP Quantity Surveyor

    Manage the commercial delivery of mechanical, electrical and public health packages from procurement through to final account
    Prepare, negotiate and administer subcontract packages and supplier agreements
    Monitor project costs, forecasts, cash flow and commercial performance
    Assess and agree subcontractor applications and payment notices
    Manage variations, compensation events and contractual changes
    Produce monthly cost reports, forecasts and commercial updates
    Support procurement and package buyout activities
    Work closely with MEP and project delivery teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved
    Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
    Assist with the preparation and agreement of final accounts
    Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and specialist subcontractors
    Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and company commercial proceduresRequirements

    Proven experience as an MEP Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor with significant MEP package experience
    Strong background in commercial construction, infrastructure, healthcare, education or other major projects
    Experience managing mechanical and electrical subcontract packages
    Good understanding of procurement, valuations, variations, cost reporting and final accounts
    Knowledge of NEC and/or JCT forms of contract
    Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
    Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
    Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction
    RICS membership or working towards chartership advantageous
    Experience working within a main contractor environment desirableWhat our client offers
