How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Engineering Shift Manager | Permanent Nights | Panama Shift

    Bradford | Food Manufacturing | 2-2-3 Panama Shift | 18:00-06:00

    Competitive salary + excellent benefits

Are you an experienced Engineering Manager, Engineering Team Leader or Senior Engineer ready to take ownership of an engineering function on a permanent night shift?

This is an opportunity to join a large-scale, highly automated food manufacturing site in Bradford, where you'll lead an engineering team, drive reliability and help shape the way engineering operates across the night shift.

This isn't simply a senior engineer role with a different job title.

You'll have genuine responsibility for people, performance, maintenance standards and continuous improvement, working closely with production to keep the site running safely and efficiently.

    The Shift

    Panama shift pattern: 2-2-3

    18:00-06:00

You'll work a structured permanent night shift, giving you a consistent pattern and clear ownership of the engineering operation during your shift.

    What You'll Own

As Engineering Shift Manager, you'll lead the engineering team on shift and make sure the site has the right level of support to maintain production performance.

    You'll be responsible for:

Leading, coaching and developing the engineering team

Setting clear expectations around engineering standards and performance

Supporting engineers with complex electrical and mechanical faults

Driving planned and preventative maintenance performance

Reducing repeat breakdowns and equipment downtime

Improving reliability across a highly automated production environment

Managing engineering priorities throughout the shift

Working closely with production and other site functions

Supporting engineering projects, equipment upgrades and capital investment

Promoting a strong culture of ownership, accountability and continuous improvement

Ensuring engineering activity is carried out safely and to the required food manufacturing standards

You'll be expected to be visible, practical and involved.

This isn't a desk-based management position. You'll be leading from the front, supporting your engineers when problems arise and making sure the team leaves the shift in a stronger position than when it started.

    The Environment

You'll be working within a large-scale food manufacturing operation with significant automation, where engineering reliability has a direct impact on production performance.

The site has the scale and resources to allow you to make meaningful improvements.

You'll have the opportunity to move the engineering function away from simply reacting to breakdowns and towards a more proactive, planned and reliability-focused approach.

    What We're Looking For

We're open to candidates from a range of engineering leadership backgrounds.

    You could currently be an:

    Engineering Manager

    Engineering Shift Manager

    Engineering Team Leader

    Maintenance Manager

Senior Maintenance Engineer ready to step into leadership

    You'll ideally have:

Previous engineering leadership experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, manufacturing or a similarly automated environment

Strong electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge

Experience leading, managing or developing engineering teams

A recognised engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, ONC, BTEC Level 3 or equivalent

    Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability

Experience working in a fast-paced production environment

The confidence to make decisions and prioritise effectively under pressure

A practical approach to engineering leadership

Knowledge of HACCP and food manufacturing standards would be advantageous

Most importantly, you'll be someone who can get the best out of engineers while maintaining high engineering standards yourself.

    What's In It For You?

    Competitive salary

    Permanent 2-2-3 Panama night shift

    18:00-06:00

6 weeks' holiday including bank holidays

    Excellent pension and life assurance

    Healthcare and digital GP support

    Career progression and development opportunities

    Staff discounts from day one

Additional family and friend discount scheme

    Subsidised onsite canteen

    Free onsite parking

    Retail, leisure and gym discounts

    Long-service recognition awards

    Enhanced family leave benefits

    Why Make the Move?

This is a chance to take ownership of an engineering team within a large, established manufacturing operation and make a visible difference to reliability, performance and culture.

You'll have the scale, resources and backing to implement improvements rather than spending every night chasing the same breakdowns.

If you're an experienced engineering leader who enjoys developing people, improving reliability and getting stuck into the engineering, this role gives you the opportunity to make that impact on a much larger operation.
