How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

I'm working with a successful and growing entertainment business within West Yorkshire that is looking to appoint an experienced Finance Manager to oversee its finance function and manage the existing accounts team.

This is an important role within the business, with responsibility for ensuring the day-to-day finance operation runs effectively, financial information is accurate and produced on time, and the accounts team is well managed and supported.

Working closely with the Directors and wider management team, the Finance Manager will take ownership of the finance function, providing strong financial control, accurate reporting and effective management of the team.

This would suit an experienced Finance Manager, Financial Controller or senior Accountant who enjoys working within an SME environment and is comfortable being both hands-on with the numbers and responsible for managing a small finance team.

    Key responsibilities will include:

Managing and supporting the day-to-day finance function and overseeing the existing accounts team
Providing effective leadership, guidance and development to the finance team
Taking responsibility for the month-end close process, ensuring accounts are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines
Preparing and reviewing monthly management accounts and financial reports for the Directors
Overseeing purchase ledger, sales ledger, nominal ledger and reconciliations
Monitoring cash flow, bank balances and working capital, ensuring the business maintains appropriate financial control
Managing the budgeting and forecasting process and providing regular updates to the Directors
Producing accurate financial analysis and management information to support the leadership team
Reviewing financial performance against budget and providing clear explanations for significant variances
Ensuring appropriate financial controls and processes are in place across the business
Overseeing VAT returns, payroll, statutory accounts and year-end processes, working with external accountants and advisers where appropriate
Supporting the preparation of information for external audit or year-end reporting
Ensuring balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately and on a timely basis
Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes, systems and reporting
Supporting the implementation and development of finance systems where required
Dealing with ad-hoc financial queries and providing support to the Directors and wider business
Ensuring the finance team operates efficiently and maintains a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
    The client is looking for:

ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, part-qualified or an experienced finance professional with strong relevant experience
Previous experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, Senior Management Accountant or similar role
Proven experience of managing or supervising an accounts/finance team
Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience across management accounts, reconciliations, month-end and financial reporting
Good knowledge of VAT, year-end accounts and financial controls
Strong Excel skills and experience working with finance/accounting systems
Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to financial reporting
Good communication and people-management skills, with the ability to support and develop members of the finance team
The confidence to work closely with Directors and senior management within an SME environment
A hands-on approach and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy and fast-paced business
If you're an experienced Finance Manager looking for a hands-on role within a successful SME, this could be an excellent opportunity to take ownership of an established finance function and lead a small accounts team.

You'll have the opportunity to work closely with the Directors, make a real difference to the day-to-day running of the finance function and play an important role in supporting the continued growth of the business.
