How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Lead the Future of High-Power Electrification
We are supporting a globally recognised engineering and technology organisation in the search for an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to join a growing team developing next-generation electrical power and propulsion technologies.

This is a rare opportunity to work at the forefront of high-power electrical systems, supporting the development of advanced products that will shape the future of complex, safety-critical platforms. You'll play a key role in technology demonstrator programmes, concept studies and new product development initiatives, helping to bring innovative electrical architectures from initial concept through to testing and validation.

The projects involve electrical power systems ranging from kilowatts to multi-megawatt applications, with operating voltages reaching approximately 5kV, making this an ideal opportunity for engineers who enjoy solving challenging integration and system architecture problems.

    The Opportunity
As an Electrical Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, analysis and validation of advanced electrical power systems and technologies. Working across multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will help define future electrical architectures, influence technology strategy and support the delivery of innovative solutions for highly complex engineering platforms.
This role would suit individuals with experience integrating:

    Electrical machines and drives
    Power electronics systems
    AC-DC, DC-DC and AC-AC conversion technologies
    Power generation and distribution systems
    High-voltage electrical networks
    Grid-connected and distributed power architectures
Electrified propulsion or energy management systems
    Key Responsibilities
    Electrical Systems Development

Develop and evaluate innovative electrical power generation, conversion and distribution solutions.
Define system architectures, performance requirements and technical specifications.
Support concept studies, modelling, simulation, prototype development and technology demonstrations.
Assess system performance and integration across wider platform architectures.Systems Engineering

Capture and manage requirements for complex electrical systems.
Produce detailed technical documentation, specifications and engineering reports.
Support verification, validation and qualification activities.
Contribute to system-level architecture decisions and trade studies.Technical Leadership

Provide technical guidance to engineering teams and stakeholders.
Lead technical problem-solving activities across complex projects.
Support the development of engineering best practice, standards and processes.
Mentor and coach junior engineers where required.Stakeholder & Partner Collaboration

Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, suppliers, research partners and external stakeholders.
Support technology roadmaps and future capability development.
Help define future supply-chain capabilities for key electrical technologies.
    What We're Looking For
    Essential Experience

Degree-qualified engineer (BEng, MEng or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience developing and integrating complex electrical power systems within a highly regulated engineering environment.
Strong understanding of electrical power generation, conversion and distribution architectures.
Experience producing technical requirements, specifications and engineering documentation.
Knowledge of power electronics and high-power electrical equipment integration.
Ability to assess electrical system performance at platform level and understand impacts on adjacent systems.
Experience working across the full engineering lifecycle, from concept through to validation.
    Desirable Experience

Aerospace, defence, marine, rail, automotive or other safety-critical industry background.
    Experience with:
    Electrical Load Analysis (ELA)
    Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
    Reliability and safety assessments
Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA/DFMEA)
    HAZOP or similar methodologies
Understanding of systems engineering standards and processes, including ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 or similar frameworks.
Experience using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches and tools.
Exposure to electrified propulsion, energy systems or advanced power distribution networks.
    Why Apply?

Work on cutting-edge electrification and power technology programmes.
Influence the development of future high-power engineering platforms.
Join a team delivering innovative solutions in a complex, safety-critical environment.
Hybrid working with flexibility across multiple UK locations.
    Excellent long-term career development opportunities.
Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
Opportunity to obtain or maintain security clearance sponsorship where required.

    Security Requirements
Due to the nature of the projects involved, applicants must be eligible to obtain UK security clearance. Eligibility restrictions may apply depending on nationality and residency history.
