How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are working with an innovative space technology company that develops and commercialises technology and services designed to help organisations solve complex challenges and unlock new opportunities.

The business works across a broad range of industries, using space technology, data and innovation to deliver practical solutions for customers across the economy.

They are now looking for a Senior Business Development Manager with a strong background in the Transport sector to lead commercial growth within this market.

This is a senior role for an experienced business development professional who understands the transport industry, has an established network of senior stakeholders and knows how to identify, shape and win complex opportunities.

    The Role

You will take ownership of the company's business development activity across the Transport sector, developing and executing a market strategy that generates significant new revenue.

    You'll be responsible for:

    * Identifying and developing new commercial opportunities across the transport industry

    * Building and leveraging relationships with senior stakeholders across transport organisations, government and relevant industry bodies

    * Developing a strong pipeline of high-value opportunities and taking them through the full sales lifecycle

    * Understanding customer challenges and translating them into compelling opportunities for space-enabled technology and services

    * Leading customer meetings, presentations, proposals and commercial negotiations

    * Working closely with technical, delivery and commercial teams to shape solutions around customer requirements

    * Identifying opportunities for collaboration, partnerships and innovation within the transport sector

    * Providing market intelligence to help shape the company's commercial strategy and future offerings

    * Maintaining an accurate sales forecast and taking ownership of revenue targets for the market

    * Supporting and mentoring other members of the business development team

The role will be highly externally focused, with regular engagement with customers and stakeholders and attendance at relevant industry events.

    About You

We're looking for an established business development or commercial leader with significant experience selling into the Transport industry.

    You'll ideally have:

    * A strong track record of winning high-value contracts and delivering against revenue targets

    * An established network across the transport sector, with the credibility and relationships to open senior-level conversations

    * Experience selling complex technology, engineering, innovation or professional services solutions

    * A strong understanding of the transport industry's challenges, priorities, procurement processes and commercial landscape

    * Experience managing long and complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders

    * The ability to engage confidently with senior industry leaders, government stakeholders and technical specialists

    * Strong commercial and negotiation skills, including experience with complex contracts

    * The ability to translate technically complex propositions into clear commercial value

    * Experience working across multidisciplinary teams to develop and win major opportunities

    * An understanding of how space technology, satellite data or related capabilities can be applied to real-world challenges would be highly advantageous

You don't necessarily need to have spent your career in the space sector. We're particularly interested in people who bring deep Transport-sector expertise, strong commercial networks and a genuine interest in the potential of space-enabled technology.

    The Opportunity

This is a chance to join a forward-thinking space technology business and take ownership of an important growth market.

You'll have the autonomy to build relationships, identify opportunities and shape commercial propositions, while working alongside highly technical and multidisciplinary teams to bring innovative solutions to the transport industry.

If you're an experienced Transport-sector business development professional looking for an opportunity where you can use your existing network and commercial expertise to help bring innovative technology into the market, we'd be keen to hear from you.
