How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Big Sky Living Ltd is the central resource company for the Big Sky Group. As a group, we provide a wide range of property services, from speculative new home developments to commercial and residential property management. We are a growing, values-led organisation with ambitious plans and are now seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our leadership team.

    This is a key strategic role with responsibility for leading the finance function, managing the Finance Team, and providing high-quality financial reporting and insight to the Operations Director, Board and shareholders. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in business planning, budgetary control, treasury management, governance, statutory compliance and financial strategy.

    We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance management role. You will be commercially minded, highly organised, and confident communicating complex financial information to a range of stakeholders. Experience within property, development, construction or housing-related sectors would be advantageous.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead and develop the Finance Team.
    Own the annual business planning and budgeting process.
    Produce management accounts, board reports and shareholder reporting.
    Manage cashflow forecasting, treasury and funding arrangements.
    Oversee statutory accounts, audit and tax compliance.
    Support strategic decision-making through financial analysis and insight.
    Lead the completion of the migration from Sage 50 to Sage Intacct.
    Maintain robust financial controls and governance processes.This position would suit an individual who enjoys combining strategic financial leadership with a hands-on approach. In return, we offer a flexible, part-time role with genuine influence over the direction and success of the business.
