How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Footballco is the world’s biggest dedicated football content and media business. Reaching more than 400m football fans across the world each month, and with a growing roster of brands including Goal, Voetbalzone, and Spox, no one else has our reach or depth of understanding within the game. With over 300 employees globally, we’re a young company with some established brands and serious investment behind us. Our future starts now…

    About the role

This role is a 9-month Fixed Term Contract.

Footballco is looking for a creative and accomplished Video Editor specialising in long-form YouTube content, who is passionate about football and understands what it takes to create entertaining, engaging and high-performing video content.

Our ever-growing team is constantly innovating with new video formats to share with our audiences across YouTube and other platforms. We’re looking for a video editor who wants to be at the forefront of that, with a particular focus on quiz, game and entertainment-led formats created for commercial clients.

The successful applicant will play an important role in the creation of regular, repeatable YouTube formats, helping to turn strong concepts and recorded material into polished, entertaining shows that hold an audience’s attention from the opening seconds through to the end.

This role requires someone who understands that editing YouTube content is about more than simply assembling footage. You will need a strong understanding of audience retention, pacing, storytelling, character, comedy, competition and engagement, and how editorial choices can influence how long an audience stays with a video.

You will be working on content where the audience is often following a game, quiz, challenge or competition. The editor therefore needs to understand how to build anticipation, reveal information at the right moment, create jeopardy and make the viewer want to see the outcome.

The person we are looking for is immersed in YouTube and digital video, understands current trends in long-form content and has a strong instinct for what makes a show entertaining and watchable. You will be part of a team that lives for football and operates to its calendar, so excellent communication, organisation and planning skills are also essential.

    What you’ll be doing:

    • Editing long-form YouTube videos, particularly quiz, game, challenge and entertainment-led formats.
    • Turning recorded material into polished, engaging and repeatable ‘show’ content.
    • Working closely with producers to understand the creative concept, format, narrative and intended audience.
    • Making editorial decisions that maximise audience engagement and retention.
    • Creating strong openings and maintaining momentum throughout the edit.
    • Structuring games and quizzes so that the viewer clearly understands the premise, stakes, progression and outcome.
    • Using editing, graphics, sound design, music, reactions and cutaways to enhance entertainment value and create a compelling viewing experience.
    • Identifying opportunities within footage to create stronger hooks, moments of humour, tension, surprise and payoff.
    • Developing and improving repeatable video formats so that each episode feels consistent while continuing to evolve.
    • Editing versions and cutdowns where required for other platforms and promotional purposes.
    • Managing projects and media throughout the production process, ensuring that all files are stored on the server using agreed folder structures, naming conventions and organisational standards.
    • Maintaining clean and consistent project files, including source media, Premiere projects, graphics, audio, exports and other associated assets.
    • Ensuring completed projects and source material are properly backed up, clearly labelled and structured for long-term storage and archive, allowing content to be easily located and retrieved in the future.
    • Project management and scheduling, ensuring work is delivered on time and project status is clearly communicated.
    • Proofreading subtitles, graphics and video content, and shaping scripts where required.
    • Collaborating with producers, designers, audience development teams, commercial teams and people beyond the in-house team.
    • Working with third-party assets and the wider Footballco network where required.
    • Ensuring all content meets the required technical, editorial, brand and commercial standards before delivery

    What you have:

A portfolio/showreel is essential, including previous examples of long-form YouTube content. This should demonstrate experience with quiz, game, challenge, entertainment or sports formats, as well as an ability to create polished ‘show’ content that is designed to retain an audience and perform commercially.

    • Excellent knowledge and experience of using Adobe Premiere Pro.
    • Proven experience editing long-form YouTube content, ideally entertainment, quiz, game, challenge, sports or studio-based formats.
    • A strong understanding of YouTube audience retention, pacing and the editorial techniques used to maintain viewer interest throughout a video.
    • The ability to identify and build the strongest moments within footage, knowing when to speed up, slow down, cut, hold, reveal or move the story forward.
    • An understanding of how to build anticipation, jeopardy, competition and payoff through editing.
    • Experience using reactions, cutaways, graphics, music, sound design, punch-ins and other editorial techniques to enhance entertainment and engagement.
    • A strong instinct for comedy, personality and character, knowing when to let a moment breathe and when to use the edit to heighten it.
    • Ability to structure quiz and game formats clearly, ensuring the audience understands the rules, stakes, questions, answers, scores and progression.
    • Experience working with graphics, motion graphics, music and sound design to create polished, commercially viable show content.
    • Desired knowledge of After Effects and Photoshop.
    • An understanding of the specific requirements and opportunities of YouTube, including long-form viewing behaviour, audience retention and the importance of strong openings.
    • Experience working to brand guidelines and applying client assets accurately and consistently.
    • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage projects and media using consistent file structures, naming conventions and version control.
    • An understanding of good media management and archiving practices, ensuring project files, source media, exports and associated assets are stored securely and can be easily located and retrieved.
    • Impeccable collaboration skills to work with producers, audience development teams, commercial stakeholders and the wider Footballco network.
    • Capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of creative output.
    • A keen interest in the latest developments in YouTube, entertainment formats and digital video production.
    • Candidates should be able to demonstrate strong editorial judgement and an understanding of why particular creative and editing choices make content more engaging.
    • Relevant university degree, equivalent qualification or demonstrable professional experience in video production, editing, YouTube or another relevant multimedia field.

    Personal Attributes

    • Resourcefulness: How do we solve problems? How do we improve every piece of work? Can you find the best story and entertainment within the footage we have?
    • Audience-focused: Do you naturally think about what the viewer is experiencing and what will keep them watching?
    • Editorial judgement: Can you recognise the moments that matter and make confident decisions about what to keep, remove, shorten or emphasise?
    • Time management: We have plenty of projects on the go — can you prioritise effectively and deliver high-quality work against demanding deadlines?
    • Team player: Our best content involves many people’s contributions — can you invite others to help you on yours, and can you add something to someone else’s?
    • Innovation: YouTube formats and audience expectations constantly change — can you evolve with them and bring new ideas to established formats?
    • Precision: Do you check your work thoroughly to eliminate errors and ensure that the finished product meets the required creative, technical, brand and commercial standards?
    • Organisation: Can you maintain a clear and consistent project structure, keep files correctly labelled and ensure that work is easy for others to access, continue and archive?
    • Commercial awareness: Can you understand the requirements of a commercial client while still creating content that feels entertaining, authentic and native to YouTube?
