Job Purpose
As Hygiene Team Leader, you'll take ownership of hygiene standards across the site, leading a team that keeps our production environment safe, compliant, and running at its best. You'll manage the day-to-day delivery of hygiene services, ensure cleaning regimes are properly documented and consistently followed, and act as a key link between hygiene and the wider business. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes pride in high standards, thrives on keeping things organised, and wants to make a visible, daily impact on how the site operates.

- To work as part of a team to ensure that the highest standards of visual and microbiological hygiene are always maintained across all areas of the site.
- To ensure the Hygiene team members are always wearing the correct PPE.
- To identify difficulties as and when they arise and communicate these to the Hygiene Manager
- To follow all hygiene, food safety, quality, health & safety procedures, and the company terms.
- Report any Food Safety/Health & Safety concerns and ensure PARs are filled out appropriately.
- To achieve a “right first time” clean, following set work instructions and safety protocols.
- Carry out daily/weekly/monthly/ad hoc cleaning tasks.
- Take part in daily GMP audits.
- To attend work on the scheduled shift days, in a timely manner, so you can be on the shop floor at the start of your shift.
- To manage breaktimes to ensure the Hygiene team members are on the shop floor on time.
- Timely and accurate completion of related documents and records.
- To ensure hygiene operatives cleaning machines are cleaning as per instruction cards.
- To assist with managing and developing hygiene team members on shift to ensure they are being proactive and carrying out their job roles in a safe and effective manner.
- Carry out startup/inspection checks of cleaning equipment and report any damages.
- Carry out chemical titration checks.
- Deputise for the Hygiene Manager as and when required.
- To organise and control stock issues and generate stock replenishment orders in the absence of Hygiene Manager.
- To carry out any other tasks in connection with the department to support the business needs.
- Assist with fining solutions, continuous improvement and problem solving.
- Any other reasonable duties, responsibilities and requests that may be issued by management from time to time.
What we are looking for
- Previous hygiene experience within a food manufacturing environment
- Previous experience of managing a team.
- An understanding of HACCP principles
- Level 2 Food Safety
- Basic Health & Safety
- Basic knowledge of COSHH
- Basic BRC understanding.
- Previous knowledge of hygiene practices essential
