How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the role.

We are looking for an HR Administrator – Security Clearance & Compliance to join our People & Development team in Bristol.

This is an important administrative role within our People & Development team, with a particular focus on security clearance, compliance and onboarding activity for employees and candidates working on secure government and defence projects. You’ll help coordinate and monitor clearance activity, maintain accurate records, follow up outstanding actions and support audit readiness.

Alongside this specialist focus, you’ll provide broader HR administrative support across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, employee changes, onboarding review periods, leavers, employee documentation, reporting and maintaining accurate information across our systems.

This role plays an important part in enabling employees to be mobilised onto secure projects, maintaining compliance requirements and helping the wider People & Development team provide an efficient and positive employee and candidate experience.

This could be a great opportunity for someone who enjoys organised, detail-focused work, takes pride in accuracy and follow-through, and wants to develop their HR, compliance and security clearance knowledge in a supportive team environment.

    What you’ll do.

As HR Administrator – Security Clearance & Compliance, you’ll provide high-quality administrative support across the People & Development team, with particular responsibility for security clearance and compliance activity.

    • Coordinate and administer security clearance and vetting activity, including BPSS and other required clearance processes.
    • Monitor clearance pipelines, track progress and proactively follow up outstanding actions through to completion.
    • Maintain accurate, complete and confidential clearance records in line with security, audit and data protection requirements.
    • Identify and escalate risks, delays or issues that may affect mobilisation or compliance.
    • Keep employees, candidates, managers and other stakeholders informed of progress, outstanding requirements and next steps.
    • Support wider HR administration across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, employee changes, onboarding review periods and leavers.
    • Prepare standard employee documentation and correspondence and maintain accurate records across relevant systems.
    • Support routine reporting, data validation and employee/contractor system administration.
    • Respond to HR and security clearance queries, providing a helpful, timely and professional service.
    • Manage and prioritise your workload to meet deadlines and changing business requirements.
    • Contribute to timely mobilisation of employees onto secure projects by keeping clearance activity moving and escalating potential delays.
    • Identify opportunities to improve administrative processes, systems and ways of working

    What we’re looking for.

We’re looking for someone organised, reliable and detail-focused, with a professional approach and a commitment to providing high-quality administrative support.

    You’re likely to bring:

    • Relevant administrative experience, ideally in an HR, recruitment, compliance or customer-focused environment
    • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
    • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
    • A proactive approach, with the confidence to follow up actions through to completion
    • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and business systems
    • The ability to maintain accurate records and produce routine reports and updates
    • Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential or sensitive information
    • The ability to work effectively within a team and build positive working relationships
    • A customer-focused, reliable and professional approach
    • Curiosity about HR, compliance and security clearance processes, and a willingness to learn
    • A positive, respectful and inclusive approach to working with others

Due to the nature of the work, the successful candidate will be required to satisfy the security requirements applicable to the role.
