How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    ROC Shift Manager
Salary: £50,000 Basic + £12,000 Shift Allowance + Excellent Benefits
    Location: Brinsworth, South Yorkshire
Schedule: Days & Nights (shift-based work)

    The Opportunity
Our client is looking to appoint a ROC Shift Manager to join its state-of-the-art Remote Operations Centre in the Sheffield area.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with control room or process operations experience to join a global industry leader, where you'll play a key role in the safe and efficient operation of large-scale production facilities within a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Offering a highly competitive package of £50,000 basic salary plus a £12,000 shift allowance, this role also provides genuine long-term career prospects. The business has an excellent reputation for promoting from within, with strong opportunities to progress into senior operational, technical or leadership positions within 3-5 years.

    The Role
Working as part of a highly skilled operations team, you'll be responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient remote operation of multiple production plants using advanced control systems and cutting-edge technology.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Monitoring and controlling plant performance across a 24-hour operation
Responding to alarms, process disturbances and operational issues to maintain safe and efficient production
Investigating faults using plant data and performance trends to identify root causes and implement improvements
Managing plant start-ups and operational changes to ensure customer demand is met while optimising efficiency and controlling costs
Carrying out performance reviews and recommending improvements to maximise plant reliability and productivity
Ensuring the highest standards of process safety, compliance and operational excellence are maintained at all times.
    About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, thrives in a fast-paced operational environment and is passionate about continuous improvement.

    You'll ideally have:

An HNC (or above) in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a similar discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
Previous experience working within a control room or process operations environment
Experience using industrial control systems such as SCADA, PCS7 Siemens or similar
Strong analytical and fault-finding skills with the ability to make sound operational decisions under pressure
A proactive, safety-first approach with excellent communication and teamwork skills
Plant commissioning experience would be advantageous but is not essential
    What's on Offer?

    Up to £50,000 basic salary
    £12,000 annual shift allowance
Competitive company pension – 15.6% in contributions
    Life assurance scheme
25 days annual leave plus additional flexible leave benefits
    Health & wellbeing platform
    Employee discounts and retail savings
Ongoing technical training and professional development
Genuine opportunities to progress into senior operational and leadership roles within the business
The position operates on a continuous 24/7 shift pattern, working a rotating mix of days and nights across a 6-week shift cycle, providing excellent team coverage and operational flexibility.

    Don't Meet Every Requirement?
Please don't let that stop you applying.

We recognise that great candidates don't always tick every box on a job description. If your experience is broadly relevant and you believe you could bring strong problem-solving, communication and technical skills to the team, we'd be happy to have a conversation.

Training and support will be provided to help you develop your knowledge of the plants and systems you'll be responsible for.

    Why Apply?
Alongside a competitive basic salary and shift allowance, you'll be joining a technically interesting environment where your decisions have a genuine impact on operational performance.

You'll gain exposure to multiple production facilities rather than being limited to a single site, developing a broad understanding of plant operations, control systems and operational decision-making.

There are also opportunities to develop beyond the position over time, with the experience gained within the ROC providing a strong foundation for progression into more senior operational, engineering and leadership positions.

We want to build a team with different experiences, perspectives and backgrounds and would particularly welcome applications from people who may not traditionally see themselves represented within engineering and operational leadership positions.

If the opportunity sounds interesting but you're unsure whether your background is an exact match, we'd still encourage you to get in touch for an informal conversation
