How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Attend industry events and forums to generate new opportunities.

Present complex technical solutions to specifying engineers and key stakeholders through technical presentations, site visits and training.

Drive sustainable sales growth through securing engineering specifications and delivering technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

Create and execute targeted sales plans.

Manage customer contacts and meetings through CRM.

Provide market information, forecasting and product planning to management.

Provide pre-sales technical advice and solution guidance, including design input for bespoke products where required.

    Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

A university degree or equivalent, although significant relevant industry experience may be considered in place of a degree.

Proven professional sales experience, ideally presenting complex or technical solutions to decision-makers and specifying engineers.

Experience working with owners/operators, engineering, contracting and design firms within the oil & gas/OEM sector.

Knowledge of relevant industrial sectors, including civil construction, electrical, controls, automation and/or mechanical systems.

Strong understanding of industrial business practices and effective sales techniques.

Proven business development experience with a structured approach to planning and prospect engagement.

Ability to use industry news, project databases and existing relationships to develop technical sales opportunities.

Experience managing long-term and complex sales projects through to successful completion.

Willingness to travel across the territory, with occasional international travel.

    Personal skills

The Technical Sales Manager role would suit someone who is:

An excellent written and verbal communicator.

Confident presenting technical solutions and strategies to clients, prospects and colleagues.

A strong networker with the ability to build long-term professional relationships.

Commercially focused with a consultancy-led approach to sales.

Structured, organised and capable of managing complex sales opportunities.

Confident engaging with senior decision-makers and technical stakeholders.

Customer-focused and committed to delivering high-quality technical support.

Ideally experienced in technical support, application surveying, premium solution sales and the oil & gas/OEM sector.
