How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Hours: Full-Time, Term Time Only
    Setting: Specialist Education – Key Stages 3 & 4
    QTS: Not Essential

Are you an enthusiastic and engaging PE Teacher with experience supporting pupils with additional needs? Are you passionate about using physical education and sport to build confidence, resilience and positive relationships with young people? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

TeacherActive is working with a small, supportive independent specialist education setting in Quidenham, Norfolk, that is looking to recruit a PE Teacher to join its team.

The setting provides a calm and inclusive learning environment with small class sizes, supporting pupils with Autism (ASD), ASD traits and additional needs. Pupils follow a broad curriculum, with opportunities to work towards qualifications including GCSEs.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is not mandatory for this position. We are particularly interested in candidates who have relevant experience teaching PE, delivering sports programmes, or working with young people within a similar SEND, ASD, SEMH, alternative provision or specialist education setting.

    About the Role

As a PE Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible physical education sessions that encourage pupils to participate, develop new skills and build their confidence.

You'll need to adapt activities to suit different abilities and individual needs, recognising that some pupils may require additional encouragement and a flexible approach to successfully engage in physical education.

Alongside delivering PE, you'll play an important role in the wider school community, building positive relationships with pupils and working closely with teaching and support staff to promote positive behaviour, wellbeing and personal development.

    Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons and physical activities.
Teach and support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Adapt activities to meet pupils' individual needs, abilities and interests.
Support young people with ASD, ASD traits and additional needs.
Encourage participation, teamwork, confidence and resilience through sport.
Promote physical health, wellbeing and positive attitudes towards exercise.
Build strong, consistent and trusting relationships with pupils.
Use positive behaviour management strategies to support engagement.
Create a safe, structured and inclusive environment for physical activity.
Monitor pupil participation, development and progress.
Work closely with teachers, support staff and other professionals.
Maintain high standards of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

    What We're Looking For

Previous experience teaching PE, coaching sport or delivering physical activities to young people.
Relevant experience within SEND, ASD, SEMH, alternative provision or a similar specialist setting is highly desirable.
A strong understanding of how to engage young people who may have experienced barriers to education.
A patient, resilient and adaptable approach.
Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
Confidence adapting activities for different needs and abilities.
A genuine passion for sport, physical education and supporting young people.
Reliability, flexibility and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
QTS is welcomed but is not essential for candidates with strong, relevant experience.

    In Return, You Can Expect

A welcoming and supportive specialist education environment.
Small class sizes, allowing for more individualised pupil support.
    Ongoing professional development and support.
The opportunity to develop your SEND and specialist education experience.
    Competitive rates of pay.
    Support from experienced education professionals.
A rewarding role where you can use sport to make a genuine difference to young people's confidence, wellbeing and education.
Our staff are paid on a PAYE basis, so you can rest assured that you're paying the right level of Tax and National Insurance, with no hidden admin charges coming out of your hard-earned pay.
